Thumbs up Hydroponic Product guide

Hi, I am new to this forum and would like to say that you guys have a VERY nice place to hang and get great information! NIce place!!

I wanted to try and contribute by offering the data that we have collected on many popular brand products over the past 3 years hard core testing products for hydroponics.

We have a huge amount of independent testing data so if anyone wanted to know about a specific product and it is in our data base meaning we tested the product, I would be glad to share information and testing results. We did lots of comparison testing as well.

We build our own systems and use a very similar design to the UC system with some modifications for most of the product testing we do. We have concentrated and been testing with this design for the past 8 years now.

I like to try and solve the most common problems that attack DWC and RDWC growers especially and the products for these systems is hard to identify.

One big issue is this brown sludge of organic compounds that builds up inside the pipes and on the walls and hard to reach spots within the system somewhere. These build ups can cause a great deal of problems for both the plants and the system.

Most nutrient formulas contain both organic and mineral based components. Lots of them contain up to 25% of the TOTAL nitrogen content of the formula from ammonia based sources known as amoniacal nitrogen. This stuff has to be broken down and converted to nitrate nitrogen so the plants can use it.

What can happen is a grower running a "sterile" program in his DWC or RDWC system will lack the needed bacteria to break down the amoniacal nitrogen in the solution and convert it to nitrate nitrogen.

When nitrogen becomes deficient, a entire slew of problems can arise.

The opposite of this can happen as well and a over population of bacteria can over take the system and that will lead to a different set of issues you would just rather avoid if possible.

We have found one of the best program to have in DWC or RDWC is one that will maintain a "balance" of biology in the solution as opposed to the "sterile" approach. The thing about the sterile approach is that if IT fails you have no back up plan or "plan B" really. One way to achieve this balance is to use or add a "sterilizing agent" the day before a tank change to kill off both good and bad bacteria in the system.

It is impossible anyhow to really maintain a 100% sterile environment if you think about it. Why fight nature when you can use it as a tool or weapon for your garden and plants. When growing indoors you are trying to "mimic" nature anyhow correct? No where in nature is there a "sterile" environment where plants grow.

H202 at 29% at the dosage rate of 3ml per gallon will work in most cases but there are MANY products available to the grower like bleach, or Zone from Dutch Masters to name a few.

A great way to maintain your DWC or RDWC is by using a new product we are testing and helped developed that is performing very well. It is called Z7 and it is the worlds first 2 part hydroponic system cleaner. It contains special and selected enzymes in part A and bacteria in part B and it will help by eating the organic compounds in the solution to prevent that "slime" build up.

This product will make system cleaning and reset a breeze and save you much time and money. It also will make your parts and pumps last longer as they never get that nasty build up that can shorten the life span of the device.

This product also helps to grow healthy roots and will improve yield and over all plant health. It is made by a company called Flying Skull Plant Products and they also make a killer spider mite spray called "Nuke 'Em" that works better than anything we have ever tried in over 28 years!!! I will elaborate on this product at a later time as well. GREAT stuff for sure!

Another product used to help maintain the biology in the solution is called "HydroRush". This product is a water conditioner that will also provide a food source for the biology in the solution. I will cover this product more in detail at a later date as we are just finishing testing this product.

All these products mentioned so far are SUPER clean formula's that are specifically made for DWC and RDWC systems.

Please let me know if anyone has questions. I will continue to update this thread with other products we have used and tested.

Cheers!

"In the uptake of nutrients from the soil food web, sulphur is the catalyst for carbon chemistry, boron gives us sap pressure and silicon builds the capillary action that transports plant sap. Only then can calcium, magnesium and amino acids be delivered to cell division sites for chlorophyll manufacture. As chlorophyll catches light, phosphorous transfers energy into sugar production—after which a mix of sugars and more complex products follow potassium through the silica pathways to provide energy or its storage wherever required in the plant."
