New Terms and Definitions
this thread is dedicated to new terminology in world of cannabis, let me begin with a few:
Designer Kush: This refers to a hybrid plant that has tight frosty nugs, usually growing with an indica type structure and having an aroma and taste reminiscent of those traditional plants from the Kush mountains. The typical Kush aroma could be described as perfumy, flowery, acrid and syrupy sweet. A Designer Kush might only contain a small percentage of traditional Kush genetics but is still called a Kush, most likely for marketing reasons. |

"In the uptake of nutrients from the soil food web, sulphur is the catalyst for carbon chemistry, boron gives us sap pressure and silicon builds the capillary action that transports plant sap. Only then can calcium, magnesium and amino acids be delivered to cell division sites for chlorophyll manufacture. As chlorophyll catches light, phosphorous transfers energy into sugar production—after which a mix of sugars and more complex products follow potassium through the silica pathways to provide energy or its storage wherever required in the plant."

Semi-Auto Plant:
This refers to a plant that has some autoflowering traits or tendencies but does not always flower at a certain chronological age. The major difference between a true autoflowering plant and a semi-auto plant is that a semi-auto plant will be able to revert to a vegetative growth pattern under a 24h light regimen and even be grown into a mother and cloned, while a fully auto plant will not be able to achieve or sustain a vegetative growth pattern for any significant length of time. A semi-auto plant will usually start flowering with a reduction in day length, or when the roots get bound or when the food is changed to a flowering formula. |

Elite Bagseed Clones:
This refers to highly sought after (and usually elite) clones that originated as plants grown from bagseed. Elite Bagseed Clones are usually plants that are grown from seeds that came from bags of really good herbs of known or unknown origin. Often these Elite Bagseed Clones will take the name of the strain from which it was found, and will continue to be circulated with this inappropriate name for some time. |

Elite Dirt Weed:
This refers to weed, aka Marijuana grown in the ground South of the U.S. border that is cured hastily, that is to say it hasn't been cured slowly, but has been put in an oven or a dehydrator and shipped across the border. Such weed is often compacted in vacuum sealing devices or hiddden in any number of vehicles (coffee, cologne, Pb's sock drawer, ever wonder why it tastes like cheap cologne or manuere?). Next time you take a hit of that "compact shit" or fluffy shwag, just remember that it wasn't grown or cured in ideal conditions, hence its decreased THC content and propensity to give you a headache as opposed to a nice "cognitive" high. |

Hoops:
A growing technique using a circle of chicken wire lined with plastic and filled with soil or a soilless mix so that one may establish a garden in otherwise uninhabitable areas such as swamps or rock bluffs. The plastic may have some holes to allow for drainage, to allow for roots to tap into the soil below or to allow water from swampy ground to be absorbed. Also known as 'Swamp Tubes'. Total Resin Production (T.R.P.):
The sum total weight of resin, or the total potential weight of resin harvested from a plant. This is the total yield of resin for a particular plant or strain, which may be helpful for resin farmers when they are selecting from plants that will grow in their locale, which ones are most suitable for extraction. When we grow a plant for a full season we can record measurements such as sowing time, veg time, flower time, plant dimensions at maturity, harvest date @ latitude (if outdoors), whole plant weight (wet and dried) and total resin yield. In later seasons use these as guidelines to determine the potential Total Resin Production. Resin Quality should always be taken into account, and ideally the resin farmer will sow plants with the most desirable Resin Quality. Last edited by c-ray; 12-05-2011 at 11:22 PM. |

PB'd:
A politically correct alternative for when public vulgarity is not an option. Though commonly associated with the four lettered word beginning in F, its use also cover for a wide variety of head-jerking public utterances like the P word in the lounge etc. example: Quote:
hey dude just wondering if we are going to meet up or if I got PB'd

Strainjackers:
Seed makers who occupy the name of an elite cutting and defraud naive growers by selling their knockoff hybrids, inbreds, backcrosses and selfed seeds using the same name as the elite or something deceptively similar. The resulting seeds are also known as wannabeans. Last edited by c-ray; 12-06-2011 at 03:11 PM. |

Hackcross (aka Hx or Hax)
A backcross that initially starts off as a hybrid made with whatever pollen donor is available crossed to an elite cutting, then any old male from the initial hybrid is used to pollinate the elite cutting - in order to generate hackcross seed on an elite clone - using the least amount of space, time and energy possible. See also Strain Jacking and Wannabeans. Last edited by c-ray; 03-24-2013 at 07:42 PM. |
