PurpleKush

I know there are many Kush varietals out there that are available thru your local Cannabis Clubs. This is the second time I have grown out this Purple Kush to see if it does better outdoors than indoors. Like most kushes I have had here she is a slow grower but does provide medium production in 70 days of bloom.

In cold weather she does purple up very nicely. She has a pinesol funk going on now that only gets stronger. She went into bloom around July 20th and will be harvested mid October. Hopefully we will have cool nights by then and she will color up.

She has a very nice mix in the high department. Starts off all in the head at first, very floaty and up. Then settles into the body and numbs it up nicely. Potency is very good as three snappers thru the bong and you are set for an hour and a half ride. Good night meds as the last half hour is vey relaxed and puts me to sleep like a badby. Enjoy the pics.

Pics one and two are of the PK at 30 days of veg on August 6th.

Pics three to five are her now at 23 days of bloom. Great trike production for it being this early. Much better than when indoors.

Hey Nugs, about how long do you let it go to get the heavyly ambered trikes? We always pull it at about 10% amber as we like the dual affect.

LT my dear, you may drool on my girls any time you wish! I know I do every morning. I lost the only clone I had left of Joey's BlueWidow and I am really upset with myself. I am about one week away from harvesting the clone I saved in April and the berry smell is incredible. She has nice large nugs as well. I could just kick myself over that one. Guess I will have to get me a pack of them and grow them out. So many great varietals and so little time.

Hey marigyp,

Have you considered regenerating/revegging the BW after harvest? Many varieties respond quickly with new veg growth, suitable for cloning.

Best,

hey marigyp, indoors i let it go close to if not 70 organic soil and teas. ( i rarely grow it indoors though) outdoors it shows sex around early - mid august finishes mid to late october ( outdoors is 100000 billion times better to me ) the weather is fine here that late so no worries about mold and its just about my birthday time!

ladytokin: nice sig, not too many people growing by those standards anymore. is it all about the grow......

I only did the Mom indoors, but thought it might be better outdoors. I grew her indoors in BlackGold with the addition of alfalfa tea. She smelled great, looked good, but the high had no legs. Great for about forty-five minutes then fast fall off. A friend of mine in NorCal said it was much better outdoors. I spotted her in preblossom in very late July. Oh well, I will know if she is a keeper by the end of October.

What got me to try this in the first place was a sample of some of the PK that had been grown outdoors in the Santa Cruz area. It was very very nice. I believe that like a lot of Kushes size in veg is everything for production. I put her out sometime mid June at 12 inches and she is now 26". She is only producing bud on the top third of the branches, with a few scattered small individual buds all are frosty as Hell. My opinion is very good headstash, but not a commercial plant.

Kendo I feel a fishing trip coming on to San Luios reservoir coming up for the fall striper run. Gotta stop in Los Banos for the best damned Basque food in the state at the Woolgrowers. If you like fish and you like the color Purple, PM me.

The following pictures are of the PurpleKush at 30 days of bloom. There is no purpling as of now as the day time temps here on the desert are in excess of one hundred degrees and the lowest night temps are 78 degrees. Notice that in shots four and five of both the main cola and a side cola only the top third of the plant produces quality bud. That is why I consider it a medium producer. Right now there is the incredible smell of pinesol and some kind of funk that I cannot identify, but it is awesome after cure. Outdoors the smell is much more intense than I remember indoors as well as trike production.

Trike production is very good compared to growing it indoors. As you can see the trikes are very fat and dense. Damned I love this hobby shit!

Pic one of the whole plant, she only grew a half inch this week so I would guess her stretch is just about over. She is packing on bud leaf now.

Pic 2&3 are of the main cola and one of the side colas trike development.

Pics 4&5 show the top third of the cola that actually developes into nice colas. These buds were not very dense indoors, but they were firm.

looking good, if you want to raise the yield you need to do some training early on in veg and get it out around march for a high yeielding plant. kushes arent ment to veg for any short period of time or yield will suffer BADLY. some select topping will also help. haha dont start me on the smell, pinesol/amonia-ish and the infamos SMELL I CAN DESCRIBE!?!?!?! never met anyone who could pin it down, racked my brain to try and figure it out. i just call it the essence of kush, everyone agrees it fits perfectly. oh yea its going to stink a hell of a lot more than indoors. its better in almost every way outdoors, and the desert is prime growing conditions, only the elevation could be a bit higher.

Are you telling me that if i start it indoors in veg, say Jan1rst, and put her out in March that she would not go into flower until late July? I can do that, but I though I would wait until mid April this coming spring just for the Hell of it.

Yea that would be correct on the smell, that underlying sweet funk is surely different.

yea ive done it more than a few times. it shoots pistils a little bit but after a week or two it starts vegging like crazy. april would be just as good as ive started then too, we had a late rainy season this year though, there was rain in march and some of april from what i remember, its one reason i wasent able to get anything out. it has been a really good season for other plants ive noticed everythings huge and overgrown this year. so if next year is anything like this one were looking for a late start but a good season. you can always be vegging indoors though until its ready.

i think ill pack some pk right now, mmmm mmmm good

Hah, you have a great idea, got no bud left of the PK. Poof it went up in smoke, but I can put a few sprinkles of fairy dust from the PK on some PurpleGhaze I just harvested. Twenty minutes from now, Bam!
