"Pirates" plunders box office, sets record
Sunday July 9 3:00 PM ET

"Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" raked in a lot of doubloons at North American theaters over the weekend, making a record $132 million in its first three days, according to studio estimates issued on Sunday.

Walt Disney Co.'s adventure sequel, starring Johnny Depp as the flamboyant Captain Jack Sparrow, surpassed industry expectations of an opening in the $100 million range. The previous three-day record of $115 million was set by "Spider-Man" in May 2002.

The "Pirates" haul of $55.5 million during its first day of release on Friday also set a record for single-day sales, beating the $50 million earned on a Thursday in May 2005 by "Star Wars: Episode III -- Revenge of the Sith."

Holy crap!!! When I saw the previews for the movie I didn't think it would have done that well. That is awesome. Go Johnny!!!!!

No Volvo (Not Volva) has a contest where somewhere in the world the have a car buried in a shipping container, they say if you find it, it's yours.

From what I see in the commercial, it looks like somewhere on the coast of South Carolina.
