I have 13 blockhead seedlings 3.5 weeks old. A few are beginning to show sex, but the little bits are still a bit too small to tell their orientation.
I am seeing a very tite, small statured indica dom pheno, an avg sized indica pheno with very very long side branches, and then there are a few supervigourous plants that began showing their nasty bits before their litter mates, I assume they will probably be male, as they are larger than the rest of the plants. Im wondering if any of you have been thru a pack of blockhead before, and if youd mind discussing your take on the phenos you observed. I have found some info on a bluberry pheno in the mix that is meant to be very special, has anyone seen this girl with any regularity? irie I_and_I |

some info maybe not sure about a wealth of it.
never heard of this special blueberry pheno of blockhead. I grew out a pack several years ago. most of the females were of the shorter more sweet tooth dominant, 1 was more of the p19 which is a little bit more sativa leaning. at the time space was an issue and clones werent taken. we tried to reveg our 2 favorites but couldn't root the clones from the more p19 pheno. the other plant is still in rotation. beware blockhead can be extremely dense and mold is often an issue in the top cola. your average size ones with the long limbs are likely the more p19 leaning ones, which are the ones i'd keep my eye on. |

I grew a pack a couple years ago, I didn't have a ton of variety and I think they looked mostly grapefruit/SWT pheno. I didn't find anything super special.
I remember this guy Gino I think from the old CW who found a pheno that smelled like puke/cat piss and yielded like a mother. It was supposedly incredibly potent to boot; I would say keep your nose peeled for that one! |

FWIW, the seedlings showed sex and I got 5/13 females. Two tall girls with well developed side branches, im assuming p19 pheno, two smaller with well developed branches after topping, and a columnar female who didnt like the topping I gave them at 4 weeks (cull, we grow bushes).
They are about 6 weeks old and avg 24" tall, each in a 20 gallon dwc tub, recirc, after the males were culled. Ill be taking cuttings tonite and flipping them tomorrow. I was told blockhead didnt stretch much, so I gave them an extra week of veg, and they are absolutely huge. Ill be pruning them to 6 branches per when I take cuts. They also reak, ive seen this strain described as fairly low odor, well, not in my room. irie ![]() |

The plants are at 38 days of 12/12, and already bigger then most of the strains I have grown out. I am impressed! I had to tie them up about 10 days ago, they were starting to sag.
The two indi doms are really packing it on. The mixed pheno has the biggest buds of the bunch, despite the mutilation I put on her at topping and the post stretch trim. Of the two sats, there is one that is very heavily showing the p19 leaf trait. The other seems to have reverted to a normal leaf pattern, but has a bit bigger buds than the p 19 pheno. Right now at first glance, the mixed pheno and p 19 girl look to be the ones ill keep, however ill give the other sat dom a smoke before I cull her. I plan to cull the two indi doms, however ill smoke them as well before any perspective mothers are killed. irie, I_and_I ![]() |

heres the rundown of how the various phenos turned out. Totai yeild was 27 oz under 1600 watts mixed HID from the 5 girls.
Pheno #1 -- indica dom, unimpressive in yeild and potency, culled. Runty plant, 50 day finisher, junk. Pheno #2 -- 'foxtail pheno', a small statured but heavily budded plant with foxtail buds, finish time around 70 days, nice yeild, nice floaty buzz, very floral smelling --culled, flowering period isnt justified by the smoke. Pheno #3 -- 50/50 pheno, medium sized plant, doesnt like to be topped, not very branchy very very dense indica looking buds, they take a long time to dry, titetitetite, great laid back buzz, kind of a sleeper for me, yeilds big, the bags look small because the bud is like rock, finishes around 55 days to my taste -- keeper Pheno #4 -- P19 pheno -- This plant is quite a stretcher, showing the p-19 trait of upturned leaf thingies, very nice yeilder, STONY, I snatched 2 bong hits while standing talking to a friend, promptly fell over, I dont find it to be psycho weed as some have described, I actually get alot done on it once the initial shock of toking it subsides. 63 day finisher IMO --keepr pheno #5 --'big sat' -- this is the biggest framed girl of the bunch, she tripled at 12/12 for me, all the branches reach the canopy. She had 12 tops in her own 20 gallon tub, very impressive in every aspect, yeild potnecy, tastes very exotic, very 'incense' type smell and taste, I think shes better then the p-19 girl. 70 days finisher. --keeper I am running the last 3 phenos again, the 50/50 is a def keeper, now i have to pick my fave sat dom from phenos #4 and #5, im not sure yet. there you have it. Thanks for the tips and smoke report on this one. I have an older pack of these, but I never really had the interest to grow them out. Now I got more interest. Let us know how the clones of the Sat doms turn out as you will get a truerer idea of the actual potency from the clones.

Make sure you cure each variety for 2month to get a true potency test.....many sativas like to cure before unleashing their true medicine..... |

hey ndn, good to see your interest has been peaked.. You should find some good ones in there..
I have grown BH originals, I got 4 girls.. All of my phenos were pretty indica dom, altho one had a touch more sativa in it.. I wouldn't call them ST phenos, as I have grown ST#3, and BH (my 4 girls) is in a league of it's own for potency/resin production and denseness.. But compared to the P19 I guess you could call them ST leaning phenos.. It took quite a while for me to pick some keepers, and I just recently culled 2 of 4 mums after at least 3/4 yr in my garden. So I'm quite impressed with BH. Most strains I'm trying to talk myself into keeping it, but with BH I had to talk myself outa keeping any of the 4.. I have since made F2s from each of my 2 fave BH phenos, which have made their way into numerous gardens.. The F2s have proven to be excellent quality, as good as many $100 F1s I've grown. Altho the male I used was something special indeed. For a ton of BH info and pics check out my BH Grow report at PG, there's some great pics and info in there.. Also, there's quite a few grow threads with peeps growing my F2s.. I'll post some pics up later when I figure out this site.. I started 5 F2 seeds from each keeper pheno, and ended up with 6 fems, 3 of each pheno, to compare. When I've been sharing the F2s I've been including some of each, so peeps can help me figure out which F2s result in better drug cannabis. Anyways, one of the fems is clearly the P19 pheno, definately the most unique BH I have seen yet. The plant is only 12" tall, and some fans are already over 12" wide, grown in a crowded veg section under shoplights.. I can only imagine how big they'd be under HIDs... Also, the P19 pheno plant clearly has the 'pointing leaves', another trait I have yet to see in any of my other BHs.. And of course, once hearing about the P19 I've been lookin for a pheno like her ever since.. and to that, I will say, you gotta love F2s! |

here's the most unique pheno I have found of 10 female BHs, 4 original fems, and 6 F2s of my making.
I'm not 100% sure, but I believe this is the pheno reffered to by GS as the P19 pheno. It is very unique to the average BH pheno. Extremely long and slender fingers on the leaves, and very large. This plant is only about 10-12'' tall, in a 3'' round pot, just before transplant. It also has the 3 small leaves poining upwards, and no other phenos i've grown even have the 2 small leaves close to the petoile.. But the proof will be in the pudding, this plant will be vegged up a bunch bigger and flowered untopped, to show her true form. i'm very hopeful this is the P19 pheno spoken of.. |

Right on Fellas! I thought the leaf trait pointed up towards the ceiling, not down toward the petiole.
Thanks for setting me straight! I just sprouted 4 of my remaining 24 orignal blockhead seeds to look for a male for a little side product. Started 6 before and got a great winner that is a knockout. It would be the ST dom pheno, crystally as fuck. It does not like a regular top, but it will take a fim OK, fwiw. I will have some bud pics within the next week or so. Be safe Alaska |

good info, I'll take a look at the other 5 of the F2s I'm running, and the 2 other original moms I have, to see if I have one that point more to the ceiling.
I guess the pics above are just some sorta extreme sativa pheno, as none of the BH plants I've grown have looked anything like this. I assumed that the more sativa leaning the pheno is, the closer to P19 it is. Without having grown, smoked, or even seen a P19 plant, it's impossible for me to compare. If the P19 pheno is any better than my best BH phenos it much be amazing. as my 2 keeper BH phenos are easily as good or better than most 'elites' i've tried. here's a few pics of my better phenos of the 4 original gals I had, altho all 4 were excellent. |
