Afoaf got some clones in the mail, and they got beaten up pretty bad. He was asking me how to revive them? THe are in rockwool, and have nice white roots he said, but they were in the mail for a couple days, and are stressed out, and floppy. They are in a tray right now with fluro's over top, what should he do to make sure they are ok? Should he put a humidity dome on?

Any help is appreciated, dont leave out any details, thanks!!

i would skip the humidity dome and just spray them with water.. they should be fine.

ps.. you should know in less than an hour if they're going to make it.

No no no, if they are floppy, spray them with water with B-1, and THEN put them in a dome to maintain close to 100% humidity until they are full of hydro-static pressure again.

Be careful now, acclimate them slowly, do not let them wilt again.

They are in a dome, with humidity still just in rockwool, roots are starting to come through the rock wool, but they are still pretty flimsy.

Now that makes sense.
Cuttins in rockwool are much more delicate than dirt/peat.
Even under water rockwool holds 30% air, so you need to water them fairly frequently.

When I was doing cuts in Rwool, I used a double tray, with water and a bubbler in the bottom tray, and a top tray with an open bottom, to keep the bottoms of the cubes just in the bubbles, so a wicking-like action would constantly keep the cubes wet (slightly).

The cubes are pretty wet, so I didnt want to tell him to put more water on them. I was goig to tell him when they perk up then put them into dirt, but not until then, and water the cubes with pH'd water every 3 days, just a couple drops

No lights if they're limp. Just a general rule.

No light now?

They just look 'wet', they look like they need to dry out a bit....

If the stems are 'floppy', perhaps support them with a couple toothpicks, forming an 'X' for them to lean against.

If they're footed, I'd vote against the dome, just keep them in moderate temps, no wind(fan), and low light. In a couple days, increase light.

They're just floppy still and the leaves are hanging on the bottom of the tray....

make sure the cubes aren't too wet (flooded), otherwise, I think you may just have to wait & hope damp-off stays away.

mayday.. submerge the whole plant in water for 10 minutes.. maybe a drop of superthrive per gal. if it doesn't revive, keep doing that every half hour or so. (if you do not have it under a dome.)

the thing with the dome is, it also traps heat.. which is not your friend right now.

the dome also creates a super-moist environment, that might help while they're under it, but when you take them out, (i have no idea why,) they can't compensate. i've killed a lot of clones that way.

good luck!

I got him to put the lid back on.....god clones are so delicate. This is my weakness cloning.....

If they have roots and they look floppy...they are too wet.

Squeeze the excess water from the rw cubes.. Remove the dome or they will die..

Fuck, I check them he left the rockwool to wet. So I squeezed them a bit to get rid of the excess water and took the dome off...it looks grim

*sigh*

Noooooooo........(breaks down in tears...)

Damn it Lugen,we is gonna have to do better in helping you out Bro.Our fault ,not yours.

I have always got about 90-100% depending on time of year. But I'm not the best teacher.....I'll come back to this one with some theory after I have researched an easier explanation of my methodology.

Hi Lugen007,

Sorry for your loss my friend. :(

Your cuts arrived in a state of shock. They already had roots, so NO humidity dome was needed. They sounded far too wet thruout the whole recovery process, and the dome likely made matters worse. Also....the shock of being in complete darkness from the road-trip is easily avoided, if you introduce the cuts to low light for the first few days. They will firm up and recover much more quickly with reduced lumens. ;)

Better luck next time Brotha! :)

Ya it sucks....

Clones are such a weakness for me, plus they were shocked I figured from the trip.....Going to practise cloning soon, and learn how to do it with success.

Damn... sorry I missed this til now.

Ive had very good luck with clones with only one bad set. Get them into fresh air .. if you have a fan on.. low only and not on them. MIST THEM. Not spray.. just a very light mist. Ive never domed any in that condition. Keep them in low light for the first 48 or so hours. Once they start to perk back up... I start with a fluro about 2 feet away. Usually within 3/4 days .. you can commence treating them as a normal clone.

Too bad ya didn't have an aerocloner Lugen they would be perked up in an hour!
And thats no shit bro!
As hr said no dome they still need to transpire and get their water connection back up and working at full capacity. GL ;)
