They are looking good here, Outlaw Grower.
At first, before logging in, they came up links, then after logging in, they come up thumbs. Clicking on one will open it in a new window.

person like me can't and dont think ill get my hand on those genetics unless i pay. i doubt anyone would trade for bagseed or seeds that are easly obtainable. trade they say for what? they all what hard to get strains. some folks just don't get what they deserve no matter how nice or disabled(not that i am disabled). go figure, sun

But forthcoming thanks to resourceful folks like yourselves.....
Purple urkleX G-13 (from seed).....Im on it guys....
My G is very vigorous and grows fast, just not a lot of stretch to her.
Tightest nodes you could imagine....Should make for an interesting combination.. The urkle should add a bit of meat to the g im hoping......:spank:

For those of you who have now had more time to get to know all the purples in your area which is the best smoke and taste? Probly gonna say pk but I dont have access to that so maybe a better question is urkle or gdp? peace out

I got some Purple Kush clones from our local cannabis medclub. If indeed these are the same clones as what I have smoked fron them in the past it is gonna rock. We have her going outside and right now is about 4 feet tall and 3 feet wide.

Oh shoot do I feel a twitch of jealosy? Lucky you- good luck with her...
Urkle is top shelf for my area, always makes top o the list at the club and deserves it, unlike other "purples' there.
But PK is def an old fav of mine, being cali native and all.

What the HELL is "The Purps"? Is it a strain or something or is it just any old strain that has purple tendencies that are expressed during flowering when the temps are a bit low? I keep seeing this question. Whats up?

CB~ This thread was just started as a 'tribute' to tha long running "Where's The Purps???" thread at tha old CW. It's a spot fer folks ta share thar appreciation fer sum colorful herbals...no more, no less.
'The Purps' is an actual strain that's been hyped & hoarded fer tha last 6 years or so in NorCal...it also goes by tha name Mendo Purps or Mendocino Purple...supposedly, it originated from some 23 year old beans, that were sprouted in 2000...so tha story goes anyway.
Any more ?'s. :smoker:

I'm wondering how the strain "grapes of wrath" fits in... Is it the same strain with a dif label? or is it even related to the purp?
Id sure like to score a decent male from "dem old beans" this year myself. Last year I had one, but it transgendered. Nice squat purple (outdoor though) little branchy male, very distinct smell to the female growth tips.
Grape, and it tasted like it too ;) Got to pop some of dem old beans as soon as the grow gets rolling again....keep your fingers crossed, "felix the cat" is dipping into his magic bag of tricks again..
Got to find a male for the one i call "curly' or "miners afghani/kush"
Im outdoor this year where lots of my gear will go purple, and im both running and testing more strains than ever before....keeping it under 99 is difficult when breeding- i should move to dam, but id miss my sun dearly.

This was from an old grow. Jojo's blackberry widow, I had a few different phenos, but this was my favorite, had a tad more body than the rest of the other phenos, but was mainly upitty smoke. Good for going out and having a good time, without getting too bombed out. Very functional smoke, and tastey.

I think mine were f2's, pretty sure on that, but saw NO hermies among them.
they do have a distinct taste.

Nice Urkle Shmokin. Which is better the PU or the GDP?
Here is a shot of Jojo's BBW before I left that garden, never got to sample this one. :(
Shmokin
05-31-2006, 10:01 AM
They are pretty much the same. GDP is a Urkle x big bud cross with a selection that has all the urkle taste and color with improved yeild and growth from the big bud. I've only flowered out urkle but the gdp is supposed to yeild more and grow faster with the same quality bud. we'll see. :) Both taste better than anything else I've tried including the Blowfish and Sour D.

I haven't tried Grape Ape yet. How does it compare to Urkle and GDP?
slippery
05-31-2006, 08:09 PM
you know they're all similar but the grape just doesnt fall in to place imho, its just not on the level of the grandaddy when it comes to purp strains or even urkle which can be great if you work with her a bit.
i think the grape has been around for a long time though...
CaptainDankNuggets

ehh thats a possibility, and I think compared to urkle and Gdp its just as good if not better

WEll,
seems like one of the urkle cuts is going to live..
It's been torture hot here- growroom still shutdown for remodeling "outdoor grow summer vacation" is the mode here now. It is a vacation for me to put holes in the ground and let them rip...
Anyways- the urkle cut is handling full sun now....
And I am almost ready to pull the trailer in the shade and start up again.....
I'm also getting my mutant g's in a row for this session.
The mutant g wasn't included in the first session, just a slightly mutated one... The true mutant took a long time to "clear up" and get a good "veg growth" by then the session was done with for the first g-13 seeds I made.
There are mutants in both gens i have, and it's time to bust out with the beans to start matching up the generations.
By the way my second gen g mutant is purple as hell in may on a hilltop....
Mutant G project under way soon at a theatre near you....L.O.L.

I'm having problems rooting my Urkle and GDP. Other varieties root fine. What am I missing. Do any of you guys find these strains harder to root? What are your tricks?

So far no nanners on my mendo purps x jojo's BBW F3. Looks lkike an even pheno split with MP and the BBW, we'll see. Schmokin hit the GDP right on the head.
Also- Grape ape has been aroun for a while and is not Urk or grandaddy. I have it in several's hands now so in a few months maybe them folks will chime in.
Outdoor purple Indica is still the best purple there is for you ole schoolers out there, no doubt about it. Indoors its a suck ass plant. I am still partial to Mendo purps, done organically and correctly, indoors. :)
Peace

shmokin- they do take a bit longer(gdp/urk) sprayin em with nitrozime right after i stick them in the cubes has helped so has using some humic acid/liquid karma along with clonex gel when they go in to the oasis cubes.
i never had one fail in my aero cloner they were always just the last things to come out.
Sup Shmokin. Urkle is the easiest plant for me to root, right next to blowfish. Roots fast throws out a lot of roots. Afgooey is the worst so far. Dunno about Gdp tho

Im having a really hard time rooting my urkle cut as well. Actually started with four, today it looks like im down to the last one....
It was planted into dirt, cube and all today... Sometimes they make it that way for me when all else fails.
Thing is she does have a few leaves that have grown, little tiny ones. But no roots have shown in the cube yet...I got my fingers crossed.
I got busted, get this- for not putting my cannabis inside our fireline- but trying to guerilla grow instead up in the forest we live on... We live on 14 acres- but basically got restricted to the 100 foot around the trailer that the Dept. of forestry reqires cleared around any residence ...
They took everything outside the line, and left everything inside the fireline. Did not look in the house, took a few shots of my empty growroom (ouch) "and left me smiling And waving goodbye, sitting there on that sack of seeds" (PS reference to "wildwood weed" totally unauthorized but seemed to fit so well... He he he..)
Im admitting right now IMHO it's a bit late to start popping seeds and sexing, by the time im sexed fower is in session- kind of a one shot deal and i should probly stick with short season indica doms.
I may just bumm around for some cuts, save the seeds for the next place somewhere in the future....
our numbers need to stay down to 24 now, so sexing males will be "high priority only" seems to be a lot of g-13 BX floating around, probly get working on the morrroccan and send my donor 1/2 of the g-13 beans im holding...
Im thinking if i keep it inside cali and people use properly bogus returns I should be mail safe still, being medical status gives us certain rights.
Gotta keep it in the state lines for equipment and such to be ultra safe.
I'll drive to the hydro store for supplies though, soils at the hardware in" ...." ( A big town lots of people everywhere- blend right in nobody knows us)
Anyways it should be a bonus being able to start a garden out in the open and quit worrying what will happen when the landlord finds out.
I wanted to tell her before we moved in, but who knows she may have not let us rent at the time. We been solid with our rent and that is why she's working with us. "as long as i get my rent on time" she says....
So nspecta hook me up with the boys will ya...
Im down to 4 plants and a sickly cut... My afghanis- three g-13's and one mazar-i-sheriff. And grape is my favorite flavor...hint hint...
anyways no charges no worries, Just fourty plants missing, and some stumps in my closet... If I woulda known about the fireline id have kept many more im sure..........
Im heartbroken and madly mildly relieved to drag a hose to my garden.
The buckets of water were killing me....and getting me in shape for summer.
It's a good thing the internet is there for me, the support and advice has been overwhelming. Thanks guys. your the greatest...

Got a question, or suggestion rather.
Hasn't it been 20 years since CAMP began erradicating fields in the triangle?
Wouldn't it be nice if someone were to re-release the old school purple kush as it was then? Before all these fantastic grapes came about through painstaking selection. There is something about the flavor of the 80's "purple" that i miss dearly.
Im hoping the seeds i just germed from a gifter will hold some promise although....
Anyone know anything about "98% Purple"... is it a "kush" genotype?
I had two 98% purpleXmaui wowie germinate recently.....
I also have a few "98% purplex?" i may pop soon, after i find more out about the 98% purple.
If the ? was not maui- the ovum donor must have been the 98% purple because the seeds look the same...
Also just got mendo hashplant in , and it's my missing P stock for my chocolatexhashplant i want to rebuild.
Margerita is her name. She glues one to a couch with a smile on one's face and the dream state is comparable to opium. It's easy to experience hours of silenece staring into thought land on margerita. I have gone into dreamland for hours selling t-shirts on a busy corner after two small bowls of 50% amber margerita... People come back 6 monts later raving about "that bowl you smoked that one day- what was that"
She smells of lemons and gasoline, and earthy hash....
Later guys...

TD420- Having grown the ET PK in the late 80's, I am hopeful to refind it. I am currently testing the socal PK, and there are no similarities between the PK I grew back then. The socal PK looks like OG kush in growth pattern with a hint of the mendo purps leaf structure. Hopefully, it doesn't turn into Purple Urkle x TW, as a good friend has pointed out.
Peace

You lucky dog elk!
I only got to smoke the circa 80's purple kush back then, never got to grow her out.... Grew a few roadkill bagseeds back then though, that is another i miss dearly... vigorus as heck and stinky as they come....
What's the "98% purple" going around no-cal any idea?
Sounds like a selected for purple P strain, but from what genotype is my question.
Seeds were large and football shaped, but are also a cross with maui wowie.
I only got two of the 98%purplexmaui and both popped.....
Take her easy bro and stay in the shade will ya.
It's a hot one today... I think spring Got dropped and bounced away....
