I rarely venture into the political field, but this has been on my mind lately, and gotta say something about it.

Recently, millions of folks have been involved in the pro-immigration demonstrations. Yes, a large part of these folks are illegal, or "criminals" as they have broken the law by entering the country illegaly. These folks have DEMANDED that the rights and priviledges accorded to citizens also be extended to them....

Well, I'd like some rights and priviledges restored to some of our citizens first. POTHEADS UNITE!!!!!

If we could present a million ppl in the street DEMANDING our rights as citizens, things could change.... Obviously, the government wont take any enforcement action, especially with CNN and Fox news on the scene. Just imagine.... 1 million potheads, waving flags and smoking, showing that we "just want equal treatment".

Now, lets apply some of the immigration arguments to pot and those who enjoy it-

Potheads are a vital part of the american society and economy: most of us have jobs, go to work everyday and pay our bills.

There are so many potheads among the population, you can't arrest us all. (tho the govt has tried)

We are already here and part of society- I've been growing a bit over 20 years now as an example, with no criminal record. (knock on wood)

With the money freed up by ending the futile war on pot, imagine the budgetary windfall to schools, roads and fire departments.

Pot being legal and taxed would provide millions of dollars in additional revenues, possibly bringing our healthcare and education systems in line with the 21st century.

Pot amnesty would free the judicial system of a huge burden, and allow them to better prosecute serious crimes and jail space to punish the convicted.... no more early release of rapists and child molesters due to overcrowding.

I could continue, but I'm getting off the soapbox now, i've said my part. Please dont take this as a rant against immigrants, or any nationality... my great-great-grandparents came from ireland on a boat and processed thru ellis island. Great-grandma crossed the plains in a covered wagon in 1897. I dont hate anybody for wanting a better life.

This is just a dam good example of how people can change society IF they can unite under a common cause. :D be safe folks

You have to get us all off the couch first........

I read nearly the same plan on the old CW, just with a few additions. One of them was allowing farmers to grow hemp to be used as a bio-fuel, paper etc. Right now many farmers are paid to not grow certain crops or to not grow more than a certain amount of crops or to not raise pigs.

The government could cut those subsidies saving untold amounts of money and farmers could earn their entire income by growing hemp.

Some could even grow pot. Not as in acres of it but on a smaller scale, say in greenhouses, and they could rent or lease their fields to other farmers if they didn
