Aside from my small grow area, I have a box with a small hydro unit in it. 10 weeks ago I put one of the seeds from my hermie attempt, into the machine. I left it go a month before I turned it and by then it was already on the way to becoming a bloody great triffid. Dunno why but I thought a month was the earliest you could turn a plant.
Anyway, I had to fight the damn thing to get it under some sort of control and decided to retro-fit a screen. I've removed everything under the screen and a lot, if not all, of the first big fan leaves from all over it. I've been trying to pull the longer growths back down a bit to allow the lower ones to catch up. Seems ok so far though.

To lend it some scale, the main cola's 6" or so long.

The roots look the same to me as they have done all along. Well, bigger of course, but I can't see any algae in there or anything that looks odd. What's pythium?

Sorry, I just read the post but it's already lights off time so will take a photo tomorrow. I did look at the roots while I was in there before and they still look white.
But, I think I know what I may have done. I read some posts a few months ago about LITHOVIT, a natural CO2 foliar fertilizer, so I bought some. About a week ago, I finally decided to try some and scaled down the mixing ratios (it was something like 5 grams of Lithovit to 8 litres of water) and gave the plant a spray. I was looking every day to see if it suddenly put on any noticeable growth but nothing seemed to be different until I opened the cupboard to find the plant dying.
Checking tonight, most of the plant is dead with the bigger leaves already dried out. But I could see through to the back couple of colas and noticed that they only had a few leaves each that were dead while the majority of their other leaves seem fine. I'm thinking now that the Lithovit killed the plant because the parts where the spray probably didn't penetrate are these colas.
Even though I double checked my scale down ratios, I must have messed up. Another valuable lesson learned on the rocky road to growing good weed I guess...

I had a better look at the roots tonight and they are certainly brownish. I poked around the roots though and there was nothing slimy about them and nothing came away in my hand and everything I pulled on seemed quite firm. The Lithovit label says 5gms to one litre of water. I dunno how many gms make a ml though.

can you show me a picture of where the stem goes into the cube{ move abit of your medium to the side and see if there is any rott in the stems}
i use lithovit alot and have never seen that happen, so i think it is some thing with your roots, they dont look as white and healthy as i would like.......
does your water temp get above 70f ever

I'll try and take a pic of the roots later but yes, the water temp does get above 70*F. I did a lot of reading online last night and realize that my water temp is too high.
I'm pretty confident that I didn't mess up with the Lithovit but it seems quite coincidental that the parts that are still alive could have easily not received the Lithovit when I sprayed the plant.
I had a 2nd little hydro system on the go and measured the water temp last night and it was 96*F! I don't have the time at the moment to build some sort of chiller so I took the little 2 week old Big Bang 2 out of there and put it into soil. At least I know my soil grows produced something...

Sure sounds like it. Thanks for your help mate. I put my other little baby into soil last night and so far she's not showing any ill effects from the transfer. I'm hoping she'll put on some weight now!
Back to the drawing board before I re-try the hydro...

was it in the same rez? you could hit the one in soil with hydrogen peroxide at 3% and give the pythium something to think about....
