4 Foot Roof? What design would you use?

Hello everyone, a friend wants to start an operation in his basement. 4ft ceilings. With lots of square footage. Humid basement. Humid climate location.


I was thinking a coliseum design. Using Koots design in the Vert section.
But that does not give him easy options to automate watering. 4foot ceilings, no one want to crawl around that more than required.

What designs would you recommend?

I believe it was just a dirt floor covered by plastic.

Are you thinking of digging?

probably some sort of flood table,if you cant dig it out. and do strains that can flower and stretch in 12/12 from small cutt...

What about feeding. The ideal soil sounds easy to me, but will a new grower be able to have success with it?

Vapor, are you talking about something like sweetskunk? Or something a little shorter?

fill flood tables with soillless mix and lots of cuts so guy only has to water the tables instead of individual pots, mylar the ceiling and use it as a reflector

the ideal soil is easier, I would say, all guy has to do is water @ pH 6.2

sweetskunk would be a good candidate. some things that has alot of stretch and will build some honking nugs, aswell plants like that usually are a bit heavier in the feed depo, so they would be better for a bed method me thinks{more likely to use up everything}.
the ideal soil would be fine for something like that, it may take a run or two to dial the spacing and amount of soil for your root system etc.But would be easy if you gave some guidance to them along the way.

So we could make him tables out of 2 x 6 and poly. Is 6inchs deep enough? could go with 2x10 or double up and use 2 2x 6's.

So these table would not have to drain, correct?

make them big enough so each plant has a certain amount of medium per light. that gives you a guideline of sorts. It dont need to drain if you are careful, but a drain option would be a great asset.

you could put a drain hole on the side 1/2 inch from the bottom as a safety measure

So they are dirt floors. Sandy material.

Can we dig out a 5 foot trench and line it with plastic and put the dirt in there?
A couple of drain holes into the sandy below.
Buddy was hoping to only dig a two foot trench, but I suggested he go the full 5 feet.
Can he get away with 2-3-4 foot trench? He can go two feet down, and bend plants I guess.

He is on a hill in a valley, so I think he should be ok there.

I think I would go for straight vert over coli's with the limited height.

Can you dig? I would make holes for pots to fit in .. so you can get a lil more grow space that way..

So we got this guy going. ill try to take some pictures.
Started with 2 -600watt digital ballasts. Carbon Filter exhaust.
5foot by 10foot bed. Filled 5-6inchs with pro-mix. Feeding some chemical fert program.
We planted the 50 clones and lost about 8 or so plants. So we are bending the plants into the open spaces and should be flowering tommorow.

Buddy seems like he has what is takes to grow the herb. Doing a good job so far.
