Well I had my ankle surgery 2 days ago and finally starting to feel better. I was a bit phobic about being put under with general anestheia but that was a piece of cake.

Ive been walking around for 2 years on a severly damaged ankle that produces extreme pain everyday so Im glad I finally went through with the procedure and hopefully will have a sturdy pain free ankle as expected.

I had 2 smaller bones removed that were nothing but chips floating in my ankle from the damge. I had one of the main tendons that attches from your shin area down to the outside ankle bone shortened an inch from being stretched when I injured it. Also had a near golf ball size piece of cartilage removed from the inside of my ankle that was basically scared up cartilage. The surgeon also drilled holes into several of my ankle bones to generate new cartilage growth as well and joints scrapped for arthritis.

The first couple of days were hell with pain that was unbelievable due to the massive swelling in the plaster splint like cast that I ended up nearly completely removing before having to go back in the Drs office and having a more comfortable immobilzation boot put on.

the pain mangement has been a real SOB. They first prescrbed me 5/500 vicoden which is like asprin, then they prescrided 7.5/350 norcos which help a tad better but wasnt cutting it then yesterday prescribed me 20 mg Oxycotins that I have only taken one of and dont intend on taking anymore.

That stuff made me super naucious and pretty zomified and out of it. What evil crappy medicines they like to prescribe you.

On a brighter note my buddy stopped over with a small care package containing a few books and 2 joints of some decent HG. I havnt smoked heavily for a few months now and have to say what a great medicine MJ has been through the night last night and today. I have been taking a couple puffs every 3-4 hours and I have been able to manage my extreme pain far better than with the pills. I always new MJ had great medicenal propertys for many ailments but never really used it in conjunction with such pain as I have experienced the last few days.

So to the gov. FDA or whoever it may concern thx for making such a beautiful medicine such as marijuana which really has benefited me greatly in my time of need illegal a crime to use for whatever purposes.

In the past I used MJ mainly for recreation and didnt put alot of thought into the Medical side of it but now I am even more of a bleiever. I basically have done a side by side test between Gov. controlled medicines and MJ and there is no comparrison. Its a dirty shame that marijuana is looked at with such dirt and not even really being given any sort of true and fair judgements.

Peace all!

Ya Santa and I use to compair our injurys seem they were similair. Being a bigger guy over wheight on paper but not so much in appearance!!! : ) Its a SOB hobbling around on a messed up ankle. One doesnt realize how dependent we our on our joints (no pun intended) especially ankles.

The swelling I had when I had that palster splint on was damn near bringing tears to my eyes. nearly aked my wife to come kick me square in the balls 9 times just to try and take my mind of the ankle pain!

3 hours of sleep first 2 days after surgery and the stressful pain I tell you the smoke was a godsend. I actually think it help bring the swelling down a bit as well.

Take care of your ankles is all I can say!

Congragulations on a successfull surgery my friend. Coupled with your excellent decision to stay away from narcotic pain meds, im sure your recovery will be equaly successfull.

Appreciate all the well wishes friends. To most surgery is no big deal but it was a fear I over came. Being put to sleep was a phobia of mine and I think I concured it with the end result in having hopefully a pain free more stable ankle.

Yes the oxy's are wickedly potent and I can see how easy it would be to become addicted to that buzz. Luckily for me the first one I took even though it gave me a slight warm feeling had more negative side effects than possitive. it made me super itchy, naucious, edgy and a bit spooky feeling.

I will admit that that one dose touched my pain but all that crap isnt worth it IMO. The MJ on the other hand is much more beautiful. Not only did it take away my pain more than the vicodens and Norcos but it did it in a clean fashion with no itching, nausia, zombied or cravings for more like the prescibed meds did and do.

Some might think that someone who frequents a mj site and or loves the horticultion hobby would be biased and predict one would compair pain meds vs. mj like I have but its the truth and my honest opinion derived from fact and proof from doing the comparrison. I took both prescription meds and MJ side by side and I know in my heart mj is the cleanest pain med. The only side effect I had from the MJ is a stimulated hunger which has been beneficial becuase I hadnt eaten much of anyhting the first 2 days. The pills surpressed my hunger and left me feeling weak. MJ did just the opposite and now I have my strength back and on the road to recovery.

On my next visit I will tell my doctor about how I subsituted mj for the potent pain killers and how they truly`helped me 100 fold over the pills. what I should have done at the height of my pain is bring back to my Dr. the 300 and some pills of Vicodin, Norco and Oxycotins that I have been prescribed and tell him i dont need them because I have some natural organic marijuana that feels much safer to use and dulls the pain more than the pills have.

peace all take care

BCW glad to know you are doing better. Man I hate all those narcs too Vicodin, Oxycontin, Percoset and as soon as the pain begins to diminish they make me constantly itch all over.
Anyway one of the things I like about making cannabutter into cookies is I think it extracts alot of the CBDs and CBNs out of the plant that we normally don't get as much of by smoking and I think they add an even higher dimension to pain relief.
Keep on getting better buddy.

Good on ya BCW. Before I RE-started smoking bud, I was using prescription Xanax and Talwin. I haven't renewed the prescription in about three years now. I'm with MeloYelo on this one ... cookies for pain relief. A longer lasting, more even stone too. :)
