Lighting idea?

Well not to sidetrack the CMH thread just cuz I have 2 of them, but I have been thinking of how to add more light to my 7' x 3.5 ' garden which is currently lit by 2 400w CMH running on 430w ballasts and using 2 Sunlight Supply 'Sun-system' reflectors.

Here are the options I'm considering.

1) add a 3rd 400w CMH
2) add a 400w HPS inbetween the 2 400w CMH
3) add a 600w HPS in-between the 2 CMH

#4) Add 3rd CMH and then use 3 150w HPS yard lights to light up canopy from the bottom or the side... That's been something I've alwways wanted to try but never did, and all the coliseum and cage type data seem to indicate that it would be a good idea...

But are these 150w yard type HPS lights even worth using?

the lower wattage array was not designed for bottom leaf lighting,
its design was to give even light all over the canopy and provide better canopy penetration from different light angles.
leaves are designed with the cloroplast light receptors on top as that is where the light has always come from..

Agreed, however I would still think that it would provide some benefit... Just not sure if enough benefit to make it worthwhile... It would certainly eliminate the shadows under the canopy though..that seems like it would be worth something...
