View Full Version : Timewarps too late?

My purple widows and kahunas are well into flowering, but I am wondering if my texada timewarps are going to flower to late into the rainy season! They have stretched to six feet and have bushed out nicely, but are just showing their sex now. I read that these should be harvested by late September. Is this even possible to pull them at his time or will they need longer than nature and our west coast weather can provide?

seems like the "breeders" plans didnt work out... sorry for that, sometimes we learn the hard way... let them go and see how they come along, but my timewarp cutting is well into flower i would say almost 4 weeks....

What is the outdoor flowery time on the timewarps? 8 weeks or so?

yeppers. and from seed who knows what male they used not one that offers earlier flowers, and the timewarp in most of the crosses i see is pretty good at kicking out her traits so....but on the same note when dj's blue berry male went onto it those things didnt start flowering till the end of sept, so we finished them inside they where real beautiful herb!
from the stories i hear about timewarp is generally it is a mish mash of a bunch of old strains from the old days and all they did was breed the early finishers togeather for 4 or 5 summers and the timewarp was found, i have heard aswell that it finished faster in its youth{the cutting} and it is end of sept finisher these days{depending on full sun}.buyer beware take it as a lesson and you keep up the work!

Thanks vapor, much appreciated. Funny that I purchased it for it's reliability, thinking it would make up the bulk of my harvest. I have a feeling my cozy private site does not get enough full sun. Live and learn. No finishing these in my basement regrettably. Peace.

I don't think my 75 dollar Canadian tire chainsaw would even dent those trees. Besides, I would need a several thousand foot extension cord. I need to move these puppies where they get full day sun.

Would a hastily built plastic sheeting shelter help these plants get to maturity, and prevent the bud rot?
c-ray
09-04-2011, 07:09 PM
if it's not raining yet don't worry about it yet.. I'd say give them a shot of bloom food now and let them go as long as possible.. better scenario is to bring them under lights to finish at the end, or if that is too much of a hassle just harvest and turn into cannabutter
a shelter will only help when there is rain and it will create humidity if it is fully enclosed, but if it is just a rain covering then it will keep rain off the buds

Might be ok if ya built a roof with no walls. Might get noticed more easily though. Good luck. Peace GS

Another quick question on the late timewarps, given that some are over 6 feet tall, would i be increasing the chances of a better yield (of whatever buds form) if i topped the plant. Would it increase bud production on the lower branches? Or does it matter at this point in the game?
vapor
09-06-2011, 10:32 PM
do not top them at this point, topping is something that if you do should only be done one or two times in early veg{ i dont do it unles ther eis a space issue}, if you do it in flower or even real close to flower it can prolong flowering.Outside is a set time cycle so there are no redos, only straight dos.

Funny story, as I am driving up the mountain, i was listening to a local am news station. At the top of the hour, a report in th newscast asking citizens to be helpful in turning in any suspicious outdoor farmer. Last year the helicopter nailed 25,000 plants in total. So far this year they have busted 4,000 plants, mostly from patches of 100 plants or less. The reason for the decline according to the fuzz, a shitty spell of weather early on the growing season! I don't feel so bad now. Even my backyard tomatoes suck ass, terrible quality. Hopefully they just fly over my patch and laugh amongst themselves at my novice abilities.
That said, I may Harvest my buds nex week on the only plants that appear to be onetime, and they were started indoors in a cardboard box. Ironic. Does anyone have any experience with the purple widow? What am I looking for in optimum trichome colour?

Not impossible. You see usually this time of year from August to October there is a drought of indoor as many growers took a break for summer. But since Cali et al. became legal they don't need to come here anymore. Hence no indoor drought and an excess of outdoor weed. Only way to sell excess is a rock bottom prices. That dude makes cash, then folks get bored of outdoor and prices really drop. Some hard asses hold on waiting for better prices. There are 1000's of lb. of last year OD in the koots. They held out for a better price hahaha. Now who is gonna buy last years when this years is weeks away. Some dudes will pawn it off as this years earlies but most will not fall for that. I see a huge hash industry about too be born. Peace GS

I had to laugh at the remembering of my original expectations from my little outdoor patch this year.
I figured 15 pounds or so...1800-2000 per, sell, winter in Thailand with the family...wash, rinse, repeat next year. Sigh...

I am harvesting all the mature purple widows at the end of the week, clear tarps go up over the ripening buds on everything else, heavy rain coming! This will be a massive heatscore, but I have to risk it.

Really, this was alot of work. Still, I have learned a great deal, got some exercise, trimmed up, and probably will have some good dope come out of this. Partial harvest late this week, gotta save some of the soldiers. Crossing my fingers on quality. These were the plants that I started early under a cardboard box, with a fuckin cfl. Ironic that this will be the best product of my various strains. Ironic, don't ya think? - cue the alanis morsette tune.

shit weed is going for £10 a gram sometimes even 0.8g! in the south UK. You guys would be absolutely disgusted at the quality and the price.

If you want to learn, drop the ego{not saying you have any}, and be able to say i will work hard and keep an open mind, and the way will open up for you but it is not easy like anything in life that is worth its salt it is some hard work, when you get there you will look back and laugh, certainly cannabis growing is alifestyle that will learn you if you are not of the green...

Just got back from a look at the patch. The tents have stayed in place and are actually working great. The timewarps are a write-off, but the kahunas and purple widows are doing fine under them! Again with the weak sunlight I am not getting much yield off these plants, but at least the buds that are on them are maturing nicely and not rotting in all the rain we are having. Fall has arrived in the Vancouver area!

I will say that the purple widows that i have now harvested and dried (curing now in jars) is of nuclear strength. Very good high. This is the consolation of an otherwise troubling year of learning to grow in the great outdoors. Harvested the Kahunas and late purple widows last night before a nasty october storm hit today. Thanks to all for the humour, knowledge and encouragement over the past months. I am pretty sure I will grow again next spring as this seems to be a very satisfying hobby.

All of the blueberry x timewarp started flowering that late? Are you talking about timebomb? I was thinking of buying a couple packs, but will pass if that's the case.

TIMEBOMB (Texada TimeWarp X Blueberry) The Texada Timewarp is a infamous West Coast lady. Every fall the West Coast is blessed with this spicy outdoor monster that has been cultivated for over 20 years. The particular clone that was used in this cross is one that an old bushman has been using for 15+ years. She will easily take over any garden as she has an explosive growth rate that makes her more of a hedge than a plant. We decided to hit her with the DJ Short selected Blueberry male in order to shorten her flowering time down, so that it might be possible to bring in earlier than mid October. Expect a lot of variation-keep in mind the shorter squat selections might be the one to look for! These are strictly for outdoor, as the buds on this girl need a lot of light to tighten up. These are untested, so you let us know what you think! Yield-potentially huge Flowering Time-mid to late September
I wonder how the old bushman is doing?
