i dont have a AC in my grow room and the temps outside is getting hot. I just picked up a couple of new Oscillating wall fans..and I'm going to freeze some water bottles to toss in my res.. Does anybody have any tips on how to deal with the summer heat?....

I don't think there is a good way. It whooped my ass last year.
I'll keep a few veggers and maybe some seedlings this year
under a couple of floro's but that will be all.
Sorry I'm no help.

Run your lights at night. That makes a big difference. A sealed and well vented light will also help a bunch.

Yes like toby said lights on at night and air cooled if possible will make a big difference. What are your temps? As for res temps I cant help besides say get a chiller, Im a soil grower. Is installing a small window ac out of the question?

res temps can be controlled quite well with frozen 1 liter bottles... 20 gallon res at 95 degrees ++ outdoors with the lights on ~6/7pm to 6/7am... took 2 sets of 8 frozen bottles to keep it ~75 degrees or lower... just rotate the bottles.. and its always nice to have a few extras in the freezer

Running your lights at night is good for temps and also your pocketbook. Running your lights at non peak hours saves alot of money!!!
If you can fit an a.c i would def. use one. If their is no window in your room you can get one of the new remote air conditioning units. Although expensive these units require no window and can hang on a wall with a little elbow grease.!
If your application is too small to be putting a.c's in it, check out Hydrofarms
fairly new Daystar A.C Super coolable. Its large 6 inch flanges make cooling with 6 inch inline fans a breeze. These are expensive but awesome reflectors.
Prob cheap compared to money and time lost in a heat damaged garden.
Try placing 1 eighth of a teaspoon of Superthrive and 4 ml's Hygrozyme to your one liter bottles before freezing them. This will slow release hormones and enzymes to your plants while it melts.
You can also do this in an aeroponic cloner using ice cube trays and superthrive at one drop per cube.Dropped in a e.z clone or similer rez, it works wonders for both heat and jumpstarts your clones!!!!!
Hope this helps!

^^ I was planning to just freeze litter bottles w/ a cap but that superthrive/hygrozyme combo is a great idea!! Where do you find the AC with the remote control? I seen them on a trip to Asia but havent seen them in the US.
Also, Silca (Protek) is good for heat stress!.

I found that General Hydro's Rare Earth is an organic, superior form of silicon to the Pro-Tekt(Dyna Gro).
Air Conditioners that you do not have to put in your window(most sit on the floor).
These can be found at any Home Depot or Wal Mart for 316.00 and 318.00
Dollars american respectivly...

Strawberry... I think he meant ice cubes.. not the frozen bottles... a couple of heat treatments and your res would be overflowing....

Rez level control would be important of course....

Dont those remote a/cs still need an exhaust to the outodoors or what not? Thought the ones I had seen have a window exhaust adapter kit or you might be able to cut a hole in the drywall and exhaust it into there, although that might be a fire hazard...If you have seen otherwise please share, that could make things worlds easier on me. peace

hello I6.........
..........exhausting the heat built up by your lights is paramount........a fan that draws air from outside thru ductwork, thru your light. thru exhaust ductwork and exhausts it outside is ideal ( then you dont exhaust your cool room air)...........an a/c unit would be best to have also, window units of 5-6k can be had at lowes or home depot and even wal mart for less than $125......including remote.........in veg you may want to run your lights only from 6pm to 12 noon........and in flower from 6pm to 6am.......as jaharvester says, cooler outside temps in the evening mean cooler inside temps.......without a better description of yout growroom and equiptment, it's difficult to give you anything but generalized answers.........luck2u........a77

The remote air conditioning units only esxaust out a 6 inch hole, easy to conceal and better for light dispacement...
