Hey all, so ive got some kind of wierd microscopic worm type insect eating my new shoots, severly stunting and in some cases killing my plants. Kinda looks like a thrip instar but ive only seen one stage of this "worm" and have had no regular thrip like damage. If I didnt have a microscope I would think it looks fungal.
anyways, heres an artist rendering untill I can find a 32bit cpu which works with my scope...
any idea's?

Bet nematodes would take care of that critter. Peace GS

looks like the little thrip worms{they are tiny} i get once and awhile,do you have any yellow stickies around is there and winged buggers about.
pyrethrin will do it but you have to hit them a few times maybe three in 3 day cycles depending on egg hatch times.,,

I'm leaning towards thrip or aphid, they do look similar to fungus gnat larvae, though ive never seen them on the leaves and this tiny also their heads are smaller and though I said "worm like" its not quite as worm like as fungus gnat larvae. No fliers from them so far, perhaps the azadirachtin I applied previously has prevented them from molting further?
Either way, problems been identified well enough to correct it!:blast:
Thanks for the quick input.

are they making markings on the leaf kinda like spider mites do?

nematoads will take care of the gnats....
nice picture pb!

the damage becomes visable when things are dire, it looks almost as though there are tiny red filaments threaded throughout the surface, kinda hyphal like in look and size, very tiny.
the main visual is the leaf expression, severe upward curl, and stunted deformed new growth, if any at all. They work from the bottom of the plant up so there is some buffer time to take top cuts asap.
I had root aphids recently too. Could perhaps be an "instar" stage not effected or immune to the imid and azadirachtin coursing throughout my babes...
for gnats I use bacillus thuringiensis

bacillus thuringiensis, did it work for you cause i have tryed it a bunch of times and the nematoads did a way better job, just get a lot of the nematoads i found when i applied them heavier they worked better.

I use it in heavy doses, with a lot of diatomatious earth to help the infection. If for moms or veg or early early flower I'll follow it up 3 days later with some azamax.
I've no direct access to nematodes or other similar bio controls.
root aphids are super fucked, but a simple, while harsh, solution is available.
these latest "worms" are so far proving to be tough, no mite has survived what they have so far :/
gotta get some cheap old pos cpu to record these fuckers....

Nematode species are very difficult to distinguish; over 28,000 have been described,[1] of which over 16,000 are parasitic. It has been estimated that the total number of nematode species might be approximately 1,000,000.[2]

do you see a lil black on the tail end of larvae?

99% sure they were russet mites... even though I do not have them anymore Im relieved to know what they were. Seems a few folks have been dealing with them lately.
