what do you guys think? I'm thinking of trying them for cuttings and maybe side lighting.

$110 is pretty expensive, I'd just go with some cfls if you only need a bit of light

You can also get ceramic metal hallides as low as 70 watts, a 250 watt bulb and ballast is about $100.

Specialty Bulb Products in Langley, BC can get them in 1-2 weeks, not the cheapest place... still looking for a Canadian source who has them in stock

it a nice place for gadgets ;), tons of leds. (not defending leds)
For cmh bulbs i would follow flyers advise and buy from a supplier that test the lamps.
