When growing with sprayers, it is tough to get in and change out a individual spray head from clogging, especially when everything is wet. I have been talking to a few people about a sprayer head that is inexpensive and easy to remove for maintenance. I figured rather than trying to keep explaining how they are made, I would just post a simple diy article on them. Minus the glue and tools, the spray heads cost me six dollars. This should make life much easier and add a little bit of reliability to spray type aeroponics.

Items needed for this project:

2" PVC Cap - slip on
2" PVC slip bushing to 1/2" threads
Compass
Drill
Drill bit, 3/16 or smaller
10-24 tap
13 Ez-clone sprayer heads - 180°
PVC Cement
I chose 2" cap and bushing for this project, but you can use any size you wish. After finding center, I drew a 1" circle and a 2" circle on the top of the cap.

I marked the circles to be drilled at quarter increments. It was easy to do without calculations. I'm sure more sprayer heads could be added if needed.

Next I glued my cap and reducer together. I did this because drilling the holes on the edges hit the reducer inside. Your cap may be different.

I drilled all holes with 3/16" drill and then tapped the holes using a 10/24 tap in the end of my cordless drill. This makes for much faster tapping. If you have never used this method of tapping, you may wish to practice on some scrap pvc first. After all tapping is complete, make sure you wash out the trimmings from the inside. It would be easier to do this if the cap wasn't glued, but it's kind of a catch twenty-two.

Carefully thread the ez-clone sprayers into the top. After your fingers stop hurting, you can test out your new toy! Great for outdoor parties and wet t-shirt contests. Enjoy.

What kind of pressure would that take to use? And what is the benefit of that as opposed to sprayers strategically placed along a tube of PVC?

Seems like you can either use 50 sprayers spread out (in a line on a tube) or 50 sprayers clustered together (mushroom heads), or am I missing something?

In terms of pressure, the ez-clone heads don't require too much pressure at all. They are rated 0.15-0.63 gph. It is the main reason why they are commonly used in the cloners. Although the more pressure you put to them, the finer they will atomize the water.

There's nothing wrong with spreading the sprayers out along a tube. If they never clog or nothing ever goes wrong, then you will never have to pull the lids.

However, if you do get a clog or some other Newton catastrophe (like stripped threads), then dealing with them becomes an issue, especially in the middle of a grow. Having them on a large unscrew able package makes it easy to replace with a spare and work on outside of the growing area.

All red, 360° heads gave a nice arching water spray.

I removed all of the red 360 sprayers except for the middle sprayer. I added green 180° spray nozzles. This yielded a very flat horizontal pattern.

I would guess to cover the unused holes. Just a guess though. Peace GS

Great guess GS! 10/24 stainless screws to plug inner ring. 9 ezclone nozzles were sufficient to provide a nice flat pattern of nutrients.

The 360's make a nice arching spray, great for verticle feeds.
The 180 degree setup would be great for feeding tables and tubs.
