Just a little tip I wish I had read in the begining: DO NOT SKIMP ON YOUR BLOWER! It is very important to get a blower that can handle your room size plus the heat your lamp WILL produce. It is worth the extra 50$ to not have to keep the growroom open.
Just a tip.
And because I don't like seeing the forum say never.

i know what u mean. i'm starting up a new grow closet and i want the best i can get my hands on. i would like something very quiet anyone have any advice on quiet fans??? if i have it my way i want to put it in the attic and drill a hole large enjough to to have the duct run up to it and eventually lead into a homemade scrubber. that would be oh so bliss.
so share ur thoughts on the fans u all use and what's the quiet on the market. bravo

homemade scrubber.
I was with ya until... homemade scrubber.
Odor control is one of the biggest reasons you'll bet busted for growing, well, besides telling friend(s).
Break down & buy a real can filter - get an ellicent or fantech fan, 4" for 400w, 6" for 600 or 1000w. You could pull air thru the scrubber (place it high in the room if heat is an issue), and blow exhaust thru the hood , then to the outside.

I think "quiet" is a relative term when talking about these fans. I have a can fan 440, which I thought was a fairley quiet one but when I got it home I was suprised because it is pretty loud.
Its not a worry for me just an inconvience for my sleeping, although its kinda a soothing sound.
My first fan a squirrel cage 200somthing was much quieter but it wasnt set up right. It was sitting on a shelf screwed into the wall and had the wall buzzing. The trees next to my house wont tell but still.
The new fan is MUCH louder but set up better. It's bungied to the celing so theres no vibration only air wooshing and that doesnt make it outside, only through the door.
Its hard for that big of a fan to be "quiet"
My 440 is the only fan I have running in a 4x5 closet with 1k hps. We'll see how the temps are in july. This is my first summer with the bigger fan.
