I picked these two up on CBay (sigh) a while back. Anyone grown these out? LowPT is Oregon Purple Thai X Lowryder and Sweet n' Low is some indoor purple strain that I can't remember also crossed with Lowryder.
I remember the seller of Sweet ' Low saying that he didn't get any auto plants when he grew these out while some guy on Reefermans' site says that some of the LowPT autoed.
any info is appreciated.

Sas, i may have had something to do with Sweet+Low. its was a tall purple slightly strawberry scented Sweet Purple crossed with a Lowryder f3 male, the resulting plants haven't shown any Auto flower traits but the females are basicly columnar in growth(nice buds) maybe a lil shorter and a week guicker then Sweet Purple pure. generaly speaking, just a slightly refined Sweet Purple, lavendar/purple in color 7-8 potentcy with great taste and smell.
i BX Sweet + Low with another Lowryder male, and these show auto charateristics, the males will mature in seedling stage under 24/7 flours and finish in 6 weeks or so and are generally culled, the ladies will presex under 24/7 .
i had some OPT x Low from RM some time ago, they didn't auto for me but were very managable indoors unlike a pure thai, germination with my pk was a big problem, they were on a close out sale $16.
hope i helped, i,ve been laying low since the big bust,,Goldking

Sweet Purple is a commerical purple indoor strain rather tall and medium +distance between nodes with a mild Strawberry flavor sold by Paradise seeds i think(i forgot)
shes really pretty and flavorful for a 7-8 potentcy, the cross with the lowryder shorted the nodes to produce some very nice 12"-18" main colas with few branchs..she,s a friendly party smoke.
.I hope that helps GK

hey gold king, sweet purple was (is) from Paradise seeds.i found it to realy shine in its crosses.it doesnt seem to over dominate but lends alot of good traits, like exelent yields and mold resistence.good luck on your sweetnlow project,an earlier SP would be nice for the northern growers

Cosmo, yes Sweet Purple is still on the market($26) she is a pretty lady.
I,m going to try some of my Sweet+Low x Low outdoors in the 24/7 sun this summer, with the BX to a lowryder male and the resulting males going auto very early, i,m give the girls a chance in the sun..something bigger then Lowryder that finishs under the 24/7 sun would be great, i,m thinking some of the girls will auto..
i,m also working with Tanzian magic cross's, Ruderalis Indica and more Lowryder cross,s.even Guerilla Grow.I,mstill hopeing to creat a outdoor 24/7 sun producer..
stay warm GK

No problemo....anytime that someone wants to talk early/auto flower is OK with me.
What are your impressions of Lowryder as a basis for creating early outdoor crosses? How much of the Sweet Purple characteristics remained after Xing with LR twice?( I'm assuming you have flowered some Sweet N Low X LR, perhaps I misread your post)
I only grow outdoor and haven't grown out the Low PT or Sweet n Low because I don't think they will finish for me at 53N. I may fire up the HPS this winter to try to breed something for outdoors. I don't know if I should F2 the LowPT or S n L, or should I hit one of these with Lowryder?
My limited genetic knowledge tells me that 25% of an F2 will auto, and some unknown % will finish early. I usually try to finish 8 females in a season as that will give me enough ganj to last a year. Let's do the math......25% auto, 50% males....64 plants not counting the early, nonauto finishers. That is way over my limit. The judge wouldn't believe that 60+ plants was a personal grow.
That's my dilemna.
I have a strain that I have been growing for years that finishes fine for me. I can plant 20 beans and be assured of enough smoke for a year. It flowers at maturity, 7 or 8 weeks, so I only have a higher plant count for 2 months or so. After discovering the internet and seeds sellers 5 years ago, my plant numbers have been increasing as I plant my usual 20 beans and up to 20 more of various "early" strains. I have had some luck with these new strains, but the majority have not finished for me.(Mighty Mite...mid-August finisher my ass)
I know that the strain I am growing is not the optimum one for my area, it's just what everyone grows around here. There must be a northern "holy grail" somewhere out there.

Sas, i remember you from C-Bay..thanks again
Lowryder is the only 'auto' i,ve found that will finish under 24/7 light, but for me be they originals or F2s/3s/4s they only finish at 1-3 grams(for me at least)
I,ve done a lot of work with the only 'advertised' autos i can find
Lowryder(Joint Dr.)
Tanzian Magic (African)
Ruderalis Indica(Sensi)
I,ve crossed them all with each other and have not received any satisfactory results as far as auto-flowering under 24/7 light. some don't even show a few pre-sex hairs.
the Sweet+Low x lowryder, does have auto males that finish at 6" in veg but i,ve not tested the females in 24/7 just 12/12 where they finish Sweet+Purple
The best results i have acheived was with a Fajian(landrace sativa) x Chronic(Serious) that took 11/12 weeks to finish in 12/12 and only about a 7 potent.
One day when i had a pretty Fajian/Chronic lady and a lonely Lowryder male, i let them rub together, and the results, the males finish at 6"+- and the ladies did some heavy Presex in 24/7 like they 'started to bud' in veg Yee haa, but being a Dumb shit when they reached 20"/24" i put them into 12/12 where they finished in 7-8wks as 'Resin Popcycles'...the budding in veg reduced the finish time by up to a month. but i never left any in 24/7 (serious Brain Drain) thats my next project starting today, cause i just did a panic bean search and i Finally Found the Fajian/chronic x Lowryder.(plenty)
Lowryder is a great Pollen source, i,ve found it doesn't change the mother plant to much, maybe a lil shorter and a few days to a wk quicker but mostly just a Invisible Father.
I,ve had many commerical Lowyder cross,s but have yet to find any that will bud under 24/7 light..every thing will bud with a Photoperiod, but i have no outdoor photoperiod..
anyway. i post updates with any interesting info in the future. stay warm GK

mighty mites will finish under 24/7
and i still think they were the predecessor of Lowryder
as i've grown them as far back as 1994
more than a decade before lowryder came onto the scene
i once also heard the original bubblegum was an autoflowerer? , anyone else hear this (95-96 ?)

Joe, where does one aquire Mighty Mite these days, i,m not going to quit my quest to find a auto that finishes under a life of 24/7 sun..
did you do your mighty mites indoors under 24/7 or do you live in the Alaska interior or Greenland (2 places with 24/7 summer sun.) i think every where else on earth has a day/nite.(photoperiods)
stay warm and thanks, GK

lowryder and mighty might are pretty different, I doubt they have much relation if any

I have a hunch that the autoflowering trait in lowryder is recessive, so it won't show up in the F1's... but if you make F2's, 1/4 of them should autoflower.

I tried Mighty Mite from 2 different sellers on CBay. Neither of the batches Autoed or even finished after 20 weeks. I have no doubt that MM will perform as advertised, I just haven't gotten the real deal yet.
Interesting note on the Bubblegum. The strain I mentioned in my previous post that I grow every year is called Bubblegum by all the locals. When I first came to the internet and started posting about the local strains, I changed the name so as not to confuse anyone. Never having grown "Bubblegum", I couldn't say that the two similarly named strains were in fact the same.
I sent some to CBay for the charity auctions...GE and the guy from SONseeds won the auctions, and I sent some to Lucifer at Reeferman Seeds. If any of those folks are here, perhaps they can chime in.
I don't want to give anyone the idea that I'm sitting on some auto Bubblegum.
What I have is a short, candelabra type plant. Very nicely scented. Not very great in the yield dept. ( 2-3 oz./plant) I've been growing it for close to 10 years. I got the seeds from a buddy who is no longer around to ask questions of.
I suspect that the two strains having the same name is a coincidence based on smell. What I am growing doesn't look at all like the pictures of Bubblegum that I've seen. Could a strain diverge so much with different growing conditions?(indoor and outdoor) I'm at about F5 or so. Could my limited selection cause such a difference in 5 generations? I selected only for early finishing. The plants have been getting smaller with each generation. In the early generations, 20-30% were larger plants. That percentage has been dropping, and last year I didn't get any.
The strain may be getting a bit worn out. It crosses well and the resulting plants are satisfactory.
