i have a problem. i harvested some of the buds of of my plant today and i realized that i have spider mites on my buds:shocked::yowza:. what do i do? are my precious little buds trash? there don't seem to be very many mites, maybe 20-30 but i don't know if they only live on the surface...

I would really appreciate any advice people could give me. and also a strategy to prevent attacks in the future. I'm just a silly little newbie :confused2:

peace and thanks

Well if its almost harvest time you can spray with 3% h2o2 every couple of days. If harvesting, just cut and hang upside down. The mites will head for the open end and in a few days will have all accumulated at the cut. This makes them easy to kill while not on your buds. I used one of those cans of computer air turned upside down. It release a freezing cold gas that kills them. Try not to drip the can stuff on your nugs. Good luck. Peace GS

a powerful shop vac with a screen on top of the sucking end passed over your plants will work wonders. Wether they are still living or hanged to dry, this technique will get rid of a large portion of the adults and the eggs alike.
Azamax and h2o2as mentionned per GS can also be sprayed up to the last week of flowering with minimal damage...

first off, thanks for all the input. I have been scraping the ones i see off and torching them . I think i will try using my air compressor at a low setting and see how that goes.

where did they come from?

I wish i knew. I started the plant from seed, and its been indoors with no contact to other plants for its whole life. I think that the only way it could have happened is if the mites were in the soil to begin with or if they just have weed-dar and found my planty.

thanks again for all the help. I'm glad these little fuckers won't ruin the harvest

animals, do you wear shoes in your arpartment?, trash cans etc etc

do a little readup on how they thrive and do the opposite... ie cold temps
find out how long the eggs hatch in wich temps
vacume cleaner works but throw the bag after

it is the eggs that is the problem

good chance they were in the soil to begin with
if you have any regular house plants keep an eye on them
