So I'm doing a project for a renewable resources class in college. It's an open ended project so I decided to make a medium sized garden in my yard and try to quantify the savings in both money and carbon emissions, etc. that come from food production and distribution. I will be working with an area about 20' x 15' hopefully. I may have to make it smaller because I have never attempted this before. I have an area that is full sun and has a little corner that sits in partial shade.

I know many folks around here are seasoned gardeners and I humbly ask for some advice.
What should I grow?
----->I am at 41 degrees, I don't have the longest season but I will be starting seedlings early in my aerogarden.
----->I want to be able to make an impact in the purchases of a family of four, I was thinking that I could grow and store root veggies long term but I want other forms of produce as well.

While the project is just an experiment in emissions reductions, I plan to keep the garden as bio-dynamic as possible to see how it affects the bounty and myself in turn.

I will update this thread with my progress as soon as I am well enough to till.
until then

I would definitely grow some tomatoes, peppers, basil, cilantro, dill, parsley, lettuces, plants that yield well for the space they use and don't sprawl too much

definitive tomatoes as it is close to THE plant we love so much
I fancy go stemrubbing the tomatoes. They love to get the same tea you give your cannabis plants. They acctually seem to like the same ph, same flowering schedule, same nutrient profile.......If you know how to grow tomatoes; -you are quite skilled growing the other plant as well.........:yapyap:

pepper plants needs to be sowed pronto. I have mine just going, afraid they dont get big enough

I better pray to the krill gods to help out
