When using soil, as I understand it, you typically adjust the PH with garden lime or ash (among others), but I once read a book where the author didn't adjust his soil PH, but instead watered with a higher PH to compensate for the lower PH of the soil.

What's your take on this? Also, how do you measure the PH of soil with a Hanna Combo Meter?

for soiless mediums...in this case coco with perlite, how would you treat it?

Thanks,
HT

what you want to do is measure your run off water, and then adjust the water so that run off is close to optimal for your chosen medium (something like 5.5 for rockwool, 6.2 for peat and coco and 6.5 for real soil)

if you are feeding with nutrient always mix the nutrient with your water first, then adjust pH

Thanks C-ray, that's pretty straight forward.
