Ok,
I procrastinated for many weeks for what ended up being about 10 minutes worth of work. I finally took some damn pics of my grow. I have many strains going at the same time.
OK so here is the basic setup:
2 vertically hanging 400w Ceramic Metal Halide Bulbs.
With 1 exception, all my plants are grown in 3 gallon smart pots with 12" catch trays underneath.
I currently have 13 plants in veg: 10 in smart pots, 3 in a make shift grow pot. 3 of the 10 smart pots have clones. Everything else was grown from seed.
My nutrient line is BMO all the way...so far only their bottled stuff. I also have some gravity and Purple Maxx/Snow Storm, but am hesitant to use it. I got it for a great deal though.
My veg/seed/clone area needs work. I am currently vegging some seeds in galllon pots cut in half. I also have some seed waiting to pop if rapid rooters, but I'm worried. None of my seeds are popping lately. I need to fix that quickly. Before that, my germinations rates were decent. Oh yeah, they veg for 12 hours (starting today) in the flower room, then go to a 96w T5 2ft fixture. The light is kept as close as possible. Later, I will improve this area A LOT.
My closet is a sealed room with dimensions of roughly 6x4x9. Until I get an A/C unit, I regulate the temp by leaving the door open. Seems to work pretty well so far.
Future plans are to add Co2, A/C, Dehumidifiers, and also have all the controls and timers I need.
Lastly, I know this room is not being utilized optimally. I'm open to ALL suggestions. Pics to come in future (next) posts.
Peace,
HT

Looks like fun, I've read a lot of good things about the cmh's.
Variety is good!! What are their names?

 I'm looking forward to seeing this progress. New Growers Unite! I hope to see good things from your CMH. If the CMH is as good as it is promoted to be you should be a happy grower soon enough :)
I have 2 150W hps ballasts and you may convince me to go buy CMH bulbs ;)
peace and good fortune

Thanks everyone. This is now day 9 of the grow. Up until last Saturday, they only had 1 400 CMH that should have been closer to all the plants. I honestly think they would be bigger if I had done that. My grow room is deficient in so many areas it actually hurts a little. But I'm short on funds, so I work with what I got.
On another note, I got some more supplies. I bought a brick of freshwater coco, and a bag of perlite. I also have that nice fancy black looking Hanna combo meter that I ordered ages ago. After I adjusted the conversion ratio to .7 and did a 2 point calibration, it's telling me my PH is 8??? the PPM of 450ish sounds fine, but I don't know. Out of the box it read 6. On the other hand, it does read the cal solutions fine.
Before i forget, here are some strains going:
In Veg:
4 Subcool 3rd Dimension is little milk gallon pots cut int half. they're done with the seedling stage are at the beginning of veg. 3 have 3 weeks so far?
1 huge seed from a Gypsy Nirvana breeders mixed pack. It was like a mini walnut, I could not resist. I hope it's a she, because that bad boy popped out of her shell like the incredible hulk. Also in 3rd week as well.
It looks like after 2 weeks of failure i have 1 seed from Mosca. It's either C99BX1 or his new Sonic Fly strain. The Sonic Fly genetics are a secret until he enters it this year. That's from him, not me BTW. Also, I have some other seeds in rapid rooters, but i only expect the Subcools to pop. Everything else is most likely bunk. \
Seeds that dissapoint so far. Pacific Mix Sativas from SeedBay. Skunk XXX from TH Seeds. I really wanted those Skunk XXX to pop too.
In flower, and honeslty looking smaller than I'd like them:
2 x Mr. Biggs Hybrid.
1 x Subcool 3rd Dimension.
2 x Skunk x Haze by Sam the Skunkman (one of the guys that brought the Haze strain to the world).
2 x Mosca C99BX1 or Sonic Fly (Mixed seed pack of the two).
2 Grape ape clones.
1 X Subcool Space Queen clone.
3 x Aliendawg F2. These were the current freebies from the THCfarm. I have ordered from them twice so far with success. They are super tiny since they were put into flower 2 weeks after seed because I needed the space.
More pics to come soon. Oh yeah, and i have come up with a cool idea...mostly. It needs fleshing out, but I came up with a way to deal with my sealed room issue. My next goal is to create a universal frame work assembly that is low cost, and geared towards modular vertical farming. Definitely a work in progress. But if you live in an apartment, space is an issue.
Well there are some ramblings for today. If anyone has any questions about the grow, please ask.
Peace,
HT

Sorry for not replying. the plants are getting really big now. I water twice a week now, it started as just once, but as they get bigger... There probably was some heat stress, but lately it's been ok, it was just hot outside for a good 5 days.
How does the equatorial in the 3rd to last pic look now?
That I believe is my skunk x haze. It is the biggest of the group. It likes to go up. I have already topped it twice. Actuially she's becoming an issue by blocking light. More pis soon on that one. But isn't she beautiful. I have two growing currently. They are developing slower than all the other plants. I can tell that harvest time for the will be longer. How much, I have no idea.
are the roots quite wet all the time?
No, I am stingy with water actually. If anything, maybe I underwater, but I don't think so.
The Indica(ish) in the 2nd to last pic?
C99 by or Sonic Fly (new strain, sativa/indica hybrid, genetics a secret until this year when he enters it into some contest.) by Mosca. I got the beans off THC Farmer.
looks a little heat stressy... probably why you added the a/c
I think you are right, this grow has been hot from day 1. I do have a portable 8000BTU A/C, but I haven't connected it yet.
watcha got wrapped around those lights? wonder how much light they rob from yer plants
Plastic coated chicken wire, 2 inch holes or so. I put it there to protect the plants from the bulb. Do you really think it's stealing a worthwhile amount of lumens. Not good. One thing i have learned is 400w's have to be close to get that proper light intensity.
I have new priorities for growing now. 1. Light, Temp, Airflow dead first. Nutrients and Moisture second. And that's moisture before nutrients. Nutrients are dead last. For now. I still have much to learn.
Peace,
HT

I would remove the chicken wire.
Just try tying the plants away from the light.

More pics coming soon. The sativas are climbing like crazy! I'm going to need to prune soon, but not sure how yet.

Personally for Sativa plants I have found that the supercropping technique works well.
I prune as such.........I dont top the plant.......For every set of two leaves that come out of your meristem, I clip one of the two leaves, I do this for every set of new leaves to come out the meristem. Do this in a clockwise rotation. Cutting one leaf from the Northside of the plant, then one from the west, then one from the south, then one form the east. You will only have to do this for so long as you will notice your top meristem is slowing down and your side branches have now picked up and are creating a shorter bushier sativa plant. If the top meristem is still taller than the side branches I like to tie it over until it is level with its side branches, creating an pretty even canopy.
I hope this helps you.
Peace odd
