Been having fun lately with the kids growing different kinds of crystals.
For Xmas, we decided to pull out some wire and to start forming. Made a bunch of snowflakes and dropped them into a saturated Borax solution.
The end result is this, will be putting them on the tree as ornaments.


I also made a few of these...

Within a couple hours you start to see crystals growing, I like to leave them in over night.
The trick is to super-saturate the solution, use boiling water.

that's really neat! they look like rock candy i used to make as a kid. did you use borax cleaner to make the solution? that looks like fun

Yes borax cleaner "Mule 20 Team".
The crystals are really brittle once dried, I simply spray a couple coats of hair-spray to harden everything off.
