Wow! No doubt that fresh frozen trim makes much purer bubble than dried frozen. I can't get it off my finger! It's like the boogar that you can't get rid of. Lol! I've always used dry trim, but for the first time, I've tried fresh, and what a difference. Now that's what you call full melt bubble!

must have been some frosty stuff...in which case you should just try fresh, or fresh lightly frozen (chilled)

Fridge over freezer?

I've heard frozen works better for butter too.

Just throw the frozen ganj in a blender with a bit of cold water before making butter. Use the water you put in the blender in the butter making process, as well as the ganj.

I haven't tried this yet but will in a couple of weeks. If I can remember, I'll report back as to my findings :D

Hey Old Sog.Sounds as though you may have let the trm sweat in a plastic bag before it was frozen.Fresh trim doesn't usually freeze in a ball.If it does happen, you should break material up by hand. You lose some crystal on your hands, but your batch will be more successful.Fresh frozen is a more sure way to melty bubble, guaranteed.Good luck.Green Supreme

Fresh is best for the best quality.Straight out of the trim tray and into the freezer.Very little green,if any, comes out that way. It's a bit bulky if you grow a bit though. Not that I'm complaining....

Seems to make the most melty bubble I've seen. I think you get a better yeild when it's dried though. And to tell you the truth, it's very hard if not impossible for me to tell the difference in potency. I can just tell by the looks of it that it's more pure when fresh frozen is used.
Tried using dry ice once, and I ended up with a big frozen clump like OS did.

One reason fresh frozen material makes better hash is that the material is at a lesser stage of deterioration. Therefore its a little more difficult to break up from mixing. The more the material breaks up the better the chance some green material will flow thru the screen pores.More green matter mean less potent hash. All those glands are still there, just dispersed amongst contaminate. You might think you are getting just as high but you are taking in more carcinogens.Harm reduction:More potency means less intake

well ive been preaching fresh frozen trim for years now.

fresh trim or plants have more terpenes than than dried stuff, so the flavour is also usually better.

but most important for flavour (beside original starting material) is how quickly the bubble is dried after. the faster the better but it must be totally dry. the finer you powder or pulverize your bubble to dry the quicker the process and flavour. drying patties will often leave your bubble with a muddy taste, imo

Good thread guys.....thanks for the info....always been a "dry and freeze" guy myself.

I'll have to check it out the fresh frozen way......and it looks like that will happen in about a week...i'll definitely come back to this thread and report my findings.....'cuz I do loves me hash!

I assume still the colder the better? Do you freeze the fresh trim overnight....or just for a few hours? Thanks in advance.

Was it meltier than the usual from the dried product?

If you find its too sticky to work with you can freeze it.When you are sure its thoroughly frozen, put it through a bud buster[coffee grinder.Preferably clean or new].Once it is powder it can be laid out on cardboard to dry[usually takes about 24hrs].Drying is the most important part as moist hash can easily go moldy.Once dry the real test of melty can begin.MmmmmeltyPeace GS

Hmmm....first retrurn is a little less in quantity...but DOES look much purer...(hence less material)........we'll see how handleable it is when it presses out.

This is mostly Genius with a little Cali-O and some Cherry Lime Rickey.....should be tasty treats!

I like using the cellophane from cigarette packs, or the cellophane from my Volcano valve kit to keep it from getting sticky. I've looked long and hard for this kind of material in bulk to no avail. So I've just been using the Volcano stuff(Cellophane). Also it really helps if you know someone in the cement buisness. Having them run your cellophane wrapped keif over with a cement truck a few times really speeds up the hashmaking process. No more sore hands, or heels for that matter! Your car will work pretty well too. But you have to put the cello between 2 pieces of 2x10s so it doesn't squirt out the sides. Same for the cement truck BTW. A 2x4 just isn't quite enough for the quantity I'll usually make. It sounds crazy, but it sure beats paying mucho denaro for one of those hash presses, and it works real well! After all....... the only difference between hash, and keif is that the glands are all smashed.
Also after all this about fresh, I've come to the conclusion, through more experience with hash making, that completely dried but frozen good and hard works best for me. The best, with the most return I ever had was when I put it outside overnight when the temps were well below zero farenheit. Unless of course you have a deep freezer. Then put the close trim, or buds into the washing machine for a good beating.
