I'm currently doing a Ebb&flow with 6" hugos and considering using Subculture. Has anybody have any feedback regarding Subculture or similiar products /w hydro

I use SubCulture in veg and bloom in aero. I really like it cause the plants really like it :)

The root mass increased nearly 20% I'd estimate - resulting in healthier plants. One thing I noticed Is that pH will take a serious dive the first couple days(~4.5) and then restabilize around 6. It has a nice buffering action that helps keep the pH in the green zone. It does however contribute about 80 ppm to the rez solution which can cause problems when you work with very low ppms(like in aero).

In a side by side test - 18 GFM BX3 without SC vs 18 GFM BX3 with SC - the unit with SC yielded 12% more.

One further note - the rez will get cloudy and you may even get floaties. Have no fear, it will clear up in a few days, however you may want to rinse out your pump filter after it clears out as it may reduce pump performance because of brown goo in the filter. The goo is not stinky-just extra beneficials in the wrong place. The roots remain white and healthy.

A minor complaint is that they reduced the amount of material in each packet. It used to contain 12 tsp, but now only has 8. That extra 4 tsp is what I used in the veg unit - Hmmpt!

Anyways $16 per bloom run is still a good deal for even a suboptimal 10% increase in yield.

you can grow your own beneficial fungi by acquiring some good earthworm castings, mixing in 1-2 teaspoons of organic oat flour per lb and misting with ro or distilled water until lightly damp, then putting it in a container in a warm spot for a couple of days with a lid on or plastic wrap covering it to keep it from drying out...if you have good castings there will be white strands of mycelium and it will smell like a forest

Met the owners, love their t-shirts, wearing one right now...

But! This is like the biggest money sink in hydroponics today. $40.00 for a tiny bottle of this stuff is rediculous. Either make your own like C-ray states above or buy something inexpensive like GH Florolicous plus/Florablend.

he method I was talking about back then is not for growing mycorrhizal fungi though, one will still need to acquire those and from a reputable manufacturer like these guys they aren't so expensive http://www.mycoapplycertified.com/certified_products/
in Canada from http://gardenerspantry.ca

I read before that most mycorrhizae is made by these guys, there are a lot of companies that just buy it in bulk and repackage it

Apparently my post this morning struck a nerve in a good friend of mine and I received a phone call this morning to hear about it. I tend to be too honest and "tell it like it is", sometimes regardless of who's toes I step on. I have been humbled and I apologize to the soil community, I stand corrected.

In soil, mycorrhizae helps the root structure tremendously. And as pointed out, I am not a soil grower, but an aeroponics grower instead. I can and will argue that in the six seasons that I used Great White, I found zero increases in root structure, plant growth or yield. Now this might not be true with all forms of hydroponics and as also pointed out, you should try for yourself.
Plant Success does produce their own mycorrhizae to sell themselves and to sell in bulk to other manufactures. For soil or closely bound hydroponic media types, I'm sure it works as advertised. For me, I have found better results with GH FloraBlend.

william from GHE said in a shop formation ( i have a certificate :) i am a ghe something LOL ) that subculture is good for prevention! if you know that you have a major increase in temperature or some root problem it will save your crop.

in high temps up to 40ยบ (water temp) just use it normally. They found that out in an accident , there as a major heat stroke in France and the plants that had subculture were saved the rest died.

If there is a major root problem feed the plant foliar with your "ghe" nutrient with an EC of 0,5 and "bioroot" in the water

this is a transcript have tested or can't proof it's true, the photos of the disaster were impressive

Another VERY IMPORTANT THING never user subculture with silica (mineral magic, etc) and avoid peroxid it will kill the "subculture"

why not with silica? I have seen with my own eyes last summer ,i had never used sub culture before, and when i went into the heat of the summer my room was getting into the 90s and the buds were not like when it gets hot normally, they were champs through the heat and it was the sub cultures, so i do believe they help with certain stresses.,.,
