Didn't see anyone talking about it so thought i'd share. you can eliminate a bunch of the time, work and mess involved in using bubblebags. use the bags. don't use water. just use leaf and dry ice. freezes the trichromes, they become brittle, and break off. just remember the longer you agitate, the more plant matter will freeze and break off. greener and weaker. the first time you look in your bucket it 's gonna blow your mind. all the crystals, bone dry. no drying. no wet leaf.

thought i'd share.

cool
do you crush the dry ice first?

I do something similar but with snow no water except in the rinse
so do you just shake it all up in the bags over top of a table?

is this done with dry or wet plant material? or both?

definitely crush the ice. more surface area, more cold. i put the bags into a 5 gallon bucket. doesn't matter if you use wet or dry leaf. usually i'll slow dry it, then toss it in just a little bit damp. too dry and the dry ice ends up freezing and breaking off too much leaf. same if you do it too long.
after doing it the water way its so nice to pull up dry bags, tap the side of the container, and see this giant pile sitting in the bottom of the bucket... bone dry.

Interesting concept...

It seems like you would need some kind of liquid, though, to actually wash the triches from the green...? Otherwise it wouldn't just turn in to a big clump?

I get that the dry ice makes the triches brittle and they break off, but from there does the process rely on gravity to separate them from the trim? Like dry screening?

Sorry, maybe I'm not getting it...

I make dry sift with bubble bags every so often using shake from the freezer, shaking the bags separates the trichomes but since there is no water everything that is the right size will fall through the screen, green, hairs, etc so the dry ice would help to limit contact time

suffice it to say that since there is no water then the material must be nice and clean (no molds, etc)

that must look cool with the smoke coming of the dry ice
how long does it last in the bags before it all evaporates?

broken into smaller pieces it evaporates way quicker, so i would say around 5-10 minutes per lb of ice. if you are doing it above a table or mirror, watch out. if your fog is falling off the surface, so are the trics.

thanks for the info
how much ice and material would you recommend using per batch?

ice maybe a lb a batch. batch being however much fits in the bags...
