Psilocybin Extraction

Heard from a member today that psilocybin can be extracted from mushrooms with alcohol. Just wondering if anyone has tried it yet. Peace GS

you sure can! :)

powder your mushrooms in a coffie grinder and then in a mortar and pestle. You soak one dose (1-3 grams depending upon strength of shroom) per 25-50 ml of >150-proof alcohol like Everclear (190-proof) for 3-5 days. Filter and store in fridge, will last for years.

You will also be extracting some psilocin which is what makes us trip, psilocybin is turned into psilocin in our bodies (if i remember right. ala blood-brain barrier). Its good to dry the mushroom without heat and light to retain as much psilocin as possible.

Actually, pf's extraction tek with everclear rocks. My only change is to stop short of crystals for best storage life. Several years ago, I reduced a qp of dry fruits down to a shotglass worth of everclear, and it's been sitting ever since. Recently, I sampled it by squirting 1cc into a glass of orange juice. Trust me, after three years, it works.

I'm working on using TLC with scanning and quantification software to quantify both psilocin and psilocybin in mushrooms so I can choose the strongest clone isolate to work with. BUT, I'm then going to figure out how to test cannabis (there is A LOT of info on this) so I can choose the strongest clone to make into a mother by testing THC, CBN, CBC, etc. I also want to use TLC to test flowers before I harvest so I know I'm harvesting at peat THC production, testing over a series of days. Oh ya, don't you guys have a gas chromatograph? The gas chromatograph will provide very accurate results, TLC will provide a 'stronger' mushroom and with JustTLC it may show a finer grain quantity, nothing near a gas chromatograph though as far as I understand. The thing I really like about TLC with software (like "JustTLC" by Sweday) is anyone can do it there home for a startup investment of about $200 which will get them testing like a pro! I still have a testing and research to do and haven't even got my silica plates in yet but I'll post news in a month or two.

I haven't tried it personally but I have friends how do this method. They really enjoy the trips but they don't like that you really can't control the quantity. They add the alch to OJ or coffie for a real energetic trip.

haha. Once they told me a buddy of theirs made some and was drunk one night and took a shot which he forgot was psily extracted alcohol! He said he took a shot and know right away what he had done...he didn't have a best trip that night! haha

I havnt tried it, but Panaeolus Fanaticus of the PF tek fame swears by psilo extracts, since he tried it he says its the only way he'll trip.

Another interesting method(not extraction) is the acidic mixture, using lemon juice or other low ph liquids in a tea blend with the mushrooms. It apperantly makes the trip come on faster, maybe increases potency by reducing internal degridation factors/inhibitors. There is a huge thread at the triping forum on the shroomery about peoples experience's with low ph tea's.

its similar to how I do my shrooms when I do them now. Usually take however much you want to do, powder it as fine as possible, put it in some whiskey for 5 mintues, then stir it up and slam back. I find it just speeds up the process of them kicking in, since the alcohol delivers the psilocybin/psilocin str8 to the blood stream. usually you feel those first waves about 10 seconds after you take the shot.
