Maybe some of your answers can be found in those forums..my second thought was cooking it into brownies!! but maybe thats just because i got a hankering for some chocolate..LOLOL:smile2:

1/ I prefer coconut oil for an edible solvent...it extracts well, has a nice taste, can handle high temps and best of all has a unlimited shelf life and can be stored at room temps without any problems.. it is also a very healthy oil to consume on it's own
most all seed and animal oils will go rancid after X amounts of weeks and only a few are suitable for cooking with (see the book "fats that heal, fats that kill")

2/ ice water extraction will get most of the medicine but there is loss and oxidation with the lightest, most volatile essential oils...which could be just as important any of the other phytochemicals....we need the complete package
the lighter essential oils I believe are mostly water soluble

you should check out low pressure CO2 extraction...there is some nice setups here -> http://www.edenlabs.org/supercritical_extraction.html

imho the best extraction should come from fresh herb that is fairly mature yet still has good aromas, so that the finer essential oils may be captured

...was the read behind the brownie cooking idea and the Theobromine is an excellent carrier. Eating it would seem a less detrimental delivery method.

there are a bunch of sites on the net that are claiming that coconut oil has the longest shelf life of any plant oil
