This is what I learned about IR detection. The IR guns can penatrate through everything but foam mylar or anything that is 90% reflectible, so if they fly over your house they can see your light with ease no matter where you vent. It picks up the light and the air vents like night and day, they see the hole light no matter if there's a space between your grow or not. it doesnt care about anything else but the unit that is giving off the light. here are some pictures taken of a tent with IR protection and 1 with no IR protection, this IR shot was taking 2 rooms over through 2 rooms of drywall and they sell these guns for $6,000 and you can bet the goverment has them. Thats why i'm pumping these new tents.. they cant see shit. the picture on the left is a regular tent with no reflectivity the old versions.the 1 on the right is the same tent with just a square of the new tent material bam you cant see shit, thats just a piece of the new tent. to think they cant see your shit get the tent so you have a peace of mind.

cool, thanks for info!

where did you get that pic? Is there more info I can read about in terms of IR protection?

SO do you guys keep the box closed on all sides? This seems like it would build up heat real fast, even if the excess hot air is vented the radiant heat still exists...

DO you guys vent AC into the box? Or just keep one side open and keep the room temp cool with a AC?

Co2 seems like an issue too. IF you have two tents it seems you would have to get 2 co2 emitters and tanks...or keep a side open in each tent and keep the room co2 around 1200-1500ppm...

What about room? Do all the walls come down? I thinking about reaching far back into the tent, while in full bud this would seem difficult.

What type of reflection is on the inside? It's not mylar, is it that stuff that's superior to mylar? The stuff with the little squares?

I am thinking about getting 3 or 4 5x5 tents that you guys have as I like the IR protection and that I don't have to put a bunch of holes into the walls/ceiling of my houses. IN each tent I'll put 2 600watt HPS...

thanks

Gojo did you look at that link I sent you that shows the tent it shows you how the zipper doors and walls open and shut,And its easy to keep cool my temp in the middle of the day is at 78-79 degrees and at night it gets to about 76 degrees.all I did was run my A/C vent that pops out of the floor and duct it to the port in the tent I have 440 cfm fan that cools my light,If the lights cool the room doesnt gt hot, the votec fan pushes air threw the light and into the carbon filter your fan that pushes the air threw your light will suck fresh air in the tent,I do not use c02 I just keep fresh air in the tent.the room the tent sits inn gets a little worm becuae I robbed the a/c duct . but I just put a floor fan inn the room and pump the warm air out of the room.all the walls have a zipper window about the size of a house window easy to get to. I sent you a couple of pMs are you getting them,I sent you 1 about the ballast and the tent. I found a place that sales the ballast.

Hey,

yea I got your PM's but haven't had time to read up on it yet...I do that today. I got the link on the ballast and I wrote them an email asking a few extra Q's. I think I'm also going to get those ballasts if they don't reduce the overall output of the light when turned on 100%.

Yea pics would be cool.

So you do you keep it closed up when the light is on? It sounds like you do.

I have a few rooms where I can put the tents, I have a lot of space

thanks

IR cannot penetrate *glass*. So, if you line your grow with glass it will be invisible.

Quite honestly I've never even considered doing it myself. But it is a fact. Glass is IR-proof.

Depending where your grow is you may have different approaches to this. Generally, you would need to line the top and sides of the room with glass. Mainly you'd need to line the exposed walls. If you're in the basement in a corner you wouldn't need to line the walls that are against the ground or the floor.

As far as cost.... glass ain't real cheap but you don't need high quality stuff since you're not using it to make your home more attractive. :-)

Can it see through the insulation used in modern houses that looks like bubble wrap with mylar in between?
