screwed up scrog. only 4 bud sites :(

Hi all,

First try at a scrog. only two plants.
Durban poison and hempster.

400w hps about a foot away.

14 gallon pots with miracle grow soil.

went 12-12 yesterday.

trying pistol whipped pruning method.
hempster had 6 bud sites.... and damn it if i didn't break off the top two buds as i was trying to pull them through the screen. (i have to be more careful)
so now hempster only has 4 sites.

how badly will this affect yield?
will the 4 bud sites get really big and bail me out of this mess... or have i just lost 1/3 of the yield from this plant?

durban poision bud sites are really small so i left 8 on this plant.
is that a mistake?

Don't sweat what you can't do anything about. The spot where it broke will grow 2 more bud sites likely. Not completely sure of your scenario. You have run out of veg time? Cuz you could veg longer and more sites will grow. If you are out of veg time and need to flower you may suffer a small loss over what you would have had , but it'll still work out ok. This being said I have never grown either of those strains and maybe I am making a grave error. Maybe if you could make things clearer. Peace GS

durban is 100% sativa
hempster (4 bud site plant) is mostly sativa

i have never grow either of these strains before either.

i only went 12/12 for one night so i guess i could go back to veg for awhile.

i did not know that new bud sites would grow if the old ones were removed.

also... i have never tried scrog or pistol whipped version of pruning... which basically is removing all bud sites on lower half of plant leaving only 6 bud sites on top.

the two bud sites that i broke are the ones at the top of the plant .... right beneath where the plant was topped..... so they are the 6th node.

does that help?

so considering the above... should i go back to veg for a bit or just go right to flower?

i have two clones that will be ready to flower in about 6-8 weeks... so it's not going to kill me if this crop is not as huge as it might have been.

i was told that i could expect 1/2 pound with a 400w hps.
is that true?
i just bumped up from a 250 hps.

just broke another bud on the durban poison plant this time.

i think maybe the netting is too small. i am using the metal stuff with only 1 inch holes.
is this too small.

are you all using the metal netting or the plastic?

any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

rattman,i believe your missunderstanding scrog.When scroging you prune in veg to get as many bud sites as possible.IMO combining scrog and pistalwhips pruning method is conter productive.You need to do one or the other.At this point(pistalwhips pruning method)because it already done.And yes you want bigger holes in the sreen like 2''x2''.Hope this helps good luck & stay safe!!I believe most people use metal sreens.
