how many plants do you start

given the 50/50 rule how many beans do you germ to get at least 4/5 females.


I started 15 beans is that to many?. I have 4X4 room with carbon can. I'm using a 250w HPS when is time to flower. I have had a few very nice grows but had different equipment. 1000W HPS/MH DIGITAL ballast. I have considerable less light. I'm looking for good yield for me only. I know some tricks to try but wanted to get other opinions.

No, i don't think that is to many. Variables are the reason why.
Some examples are:
How many beans will actually pop?
What percentage of them will be male, female, hermi?
How true breeding is the parentage, and the offspring for that matter?
What particular plant attributes are you looking for in your garden..
Remembering Luther Burbank'sselect the best and reject all others
Etc...

I planted 10 seeds and got 3 females the rest were males.the more seeds you germ the better the rate of having a good pheno.the 3 females I had ,1 was
really killer and the other 2 were alright. your looking for the best pheno.

I would go with the 250 for growth and the 1000 for flowering.that 1000 sure is nice, are you going to use the 1000 in the 4x4 room? if so you better get a440 cfm fan to keep her cool. the 1000 will give you dense buds . that sounds like a good combo, 250 for veg and the 1000, for flower.I myself go with floresents for veg and 600 for flower. I would love to have a 250 for veg. hoped I helped.

i do 5 seeds at a time, you only need 1 female for the strain. then take clones and you can sex a clone before the parents.

If you're left w/ the 'problem' of too many females, simply refer to the above post.
Plus if that's the biggest problem you are contending with, then I'd say that things are off to a good start;).

If you do end up with more females than you can flower, maybe you do the classic orphanage unwanted baby drop. Just leave 'er in a wicker basket with a blanket and a note w/ her name:).
