Hands down, no choice for the number 1 tool other than a well calibrated PH meter.
Plants will survive in a solution with a PH of ~5.3 to 6.3 or higher.
Try hydro growing at 4.3 or 7.3 and you will have new definition for ...ooops.
Occasionally there are dry 7.0 and 4.0 calibration capsules on ebay.
Each cap makes 100ml of solution. We dont need the 10.0 solution.
I know the meter in my sig block works well. Its performance is enhanced
by its excellent price. Nothing being said against the higher priced ones as
they do work too.
A calibrated meter will save ya much much grief with hydro
#2 has no competition either. Thermometer.
Keep that res between 68 and 75 or even 68 to 72 and your plants with a proper PH will show you how much they appreciate your care.
Below 65 and they start to sorta hybernate.
Above 80 and you will incur root rot very rapidly.
Lot of opinions for the coveted #3 spot.
I contend that it is the willingness to ask for help from more experienced growers. 'There are no stupid questions except for one, The one you dont
ask and your plants suffer or die because of it.'
