I have eaten lots and can't really understand what the difference would be .I like them in smoothies. Must admit I enjoy the hulled better, but less fibre that way. Peace GS
ive noticed theres a few little dry twiggy bits here and there and odd seeds etc but the bulk looks decent... ive just made some hemp milk
100g hemp seed
25g almond
cinnamon
vanilla essence
soak ingredients in 1/2 pint water for 24hours. Blend. Add another 1/2 pint water add cinnamon powder if desired and vanilla. Filter through cloth. Chill for an hour and drink (last 2-3 days)

Milk........Interesting.
I eat about 4 tablespoons of hulled hemp seeds every morning.
I also eat a tablespoon of bee pollen.
Keeps me going till the afternoon.
Hulled hemp seed in Salad, add to speggetti and oatmeal after its cooked.
I usually just chase the hemp seeds with water.
Are the bird seed..........shelled or unshelled hemp seed?
Only place in nature that the perfect ratio of omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acid, for human consumption is found, is in the hemp seed. Higher protien than any meat. The only substance that may compare in available protien, would be bee pollen.
unshelled...
if you had one food to choose and live on hemp seed would be the best :)

The One Plant!
Hulled hemp seed with fresh hemp sprouts, topped with a light hemp oil, using different strains to flavor the oil. Could actually be interesting.
well i just finished a glass of hemp milk, i definately feel it could do with some banana puree in the mix but you can taste the goodness :) and i didnt add any nuts so that should make alot of difference to help the taste.
im gonna lightly dry fry some shelled hemp and sesame seeds with maybe some pepper as a day time snack... be well dpn

hey dpn do you sprout your seeds before making milk?
the recipe said to soak them for 24 hours, but when i left them soaking i placed them in the fridge so none sprouted... i think the young sprouts have much greater nutritonal value but should be eaten within days before they become bitter.
The milk recipe you could substitute the almonds for cashews or real homemade coconut puree and some banana and maybe like ODD said some bee pollen or honey.
Another health food treat i like to make twice a week is a carrot and parsley natural high drink. An important psychoactive factor for a food is its alkalinity. A rapid alkalisation of the bloodstream can have a pleasant temporary effect. A recipe for such a calm, tranquil feeling that heightens the senses can be created by using sapoty brook's recipe.
juice enough *ORGANIC carrots to make 1-2 litres
and puree 50g of parsley with the carrot juice.
sit back and enjoy (drink asap)
please use organic, as carrots (& grapes) act like pesticide sponges and have been recorded to contain 25% more pesticides than they should. Peeling or scrubbing doesnt work as the pesticides soak throughout.

are the seeds live, have you tried sprouting them all the way?
if you do sprout/soak them I recommend using as much water as possible to soak them, and rinsing them as often as possible for the best experience..the seeds release oils when they are sprouting and these oils go rancid quickly due to the type of oils...they will taste metallic if they go rancid
also it is important to rinse the seeds thoroughly before soaking as some batches of seed can be quite dirty
soaked hazelnuts also make a delightful milk
thanks for the advice... yeah i should have cleaned them better especially since they are made for birds lol

Ohhhh Yum! cracked hemp seed mixed in labnna on toast drizzed in organic honey, the perfect breakfast!
" Oh and organic cuban coffee, please no milk or sugar gracious amigo!"
Hemp has to be one of the great foods, high in fiber and protein and a perfect oil profile. I didnt know you could buy sacks of it though. Get mine in exspensive little containers at the health food store.
Ģ3.99 for a 250g tub of hulled hemp seed :( at the local health store. I got 30kg for Ģ20 :)

yes, most sprout within 48 hours, some where already crushed under 5%.
I made a another batch of hemp milk and changed the water many times, it tastes so much better :)
a few handfuls accidently got sprinkled in random places on my way to town on saturday, i wonder if they sprout lol

Birdseed here in the States is by law not viable seed. They must sterilize the seed before is can be imported here. Does that make it any less healthy for ppl?

i imagine they heat them to sterilize, so its possible the nutrition would be harmed somewhat and you couldn't use them to eat the sprouts...

they use steam to sterilize them, and yes they are less healthy than live seeds or dehulled hemp seeds, but they are still healthy
hey,
I eat hemp bread I buy at the local hippy store (it's sprouted with flax and no wheat)
My friend makes killer hemp bread, baguettes, bagels, etc with hemp seed powder she grinds (shes a chef).
I take a shot of hemp seed oil once a day (along with flax seed oil), try to find the "cold pressed" kind. Hemp seed oil is earthy and nutty and pretty good, flax seed oil needs to be hidden a big glass of carrot/beet/spirlina juice ;)
i think slightly roasted hemp seeds are very tasty :)

Donīt really eat hemp seed but I have tried hemp oil. Itīs got an amazing flavour, itīs great for some salads. Itīs really expensive though so I stopped using it.
I take emu oil though (Omega 369), expensive too but mega healthy. The best place for emu oil is www.emuspirit.com , if anyoneīs interested IMO.
Works great for bruises and cuts etc, wounds heal in no time!

you need to get it direct from the farmer (in Canada)
in the UK/europe there were some vendors online that sold live seed ie http://www.yaoh.co.uk/catalog/food-seed-c-25_35.html?osCsid=018mstif0h5qpd2vp7keglb5l2 (<- seems to be out of stock though)

but are they live seeds or sterilized...? pretty sure he wouldn't be selling live seed esp. considering he has a license
I got a big bucket of toasted seeds at a farmers market in Nelson. My favorite recipe was one from whitewater ski hill, they were a peanut butter based goodness bar. The recipe was released to their staff in the monthly news letter and a friend new i loved these pb bars. Well I loved them even more with toasted hemp seed. Wish I still had that recipe, it was stolen (along with everything else i owned:Noooo:) within 48 hours of getting into van.
Long story short check out the farmers market next time you're in Nelson (Sunday mornings I think). Shambala is coming up!!!! Thats a good a reason as any to make the drive out to the kootenays.
I supposed if thats not your scene or if you're feeling lazy....
