Not sure if this is where this should go so feel free to move to what is deemed as a more appropriate spot.

While rolling a joint the other day I began to ponder texture of trichome. I have commonly noticed 2 distinct textures. Greasy and sandy. I'm sure there are many more but thought those 2 could kick it off. Are greasy trichs or sandy trichs indica/sative related? Do certain high characteristics prevail in one or the other? Are certain tastes related to the textures?

Thought this could be a cool discussion. Talk amongst yourselves. LOL. Peace GS

yes it definitely would be related type and quantity of essential oils present (or not present)...so what does resin with high thc but low essential oil content feel like?

I've noticed with some meltier hash that it is harder to press it together, that it seems to want to separate into little pieces...it feels kinda slippery

also some hash wants to stick to my hands more than others

What role does the waxy cuticle play in this...

i think that there are different textures formed depending partially on growing environment as well (ie. oudoor vs. indoor). I noticed this last season taht hash I made from outdoor resin was gummier then the indoor resins. it seems to have more pliability to it, not so rock hard. i have noticed this with good outdoor hash other people i know have made before too.

Isn't resin quality genetic?

Aren't outdoor plant's trichomes somewhat ¨washed off¨ buy the env. conditions?

i am confused..

The less you touch your plants, the less you vaporize the trichomes by close lamps and never spray after 3 weeks of flowering, the meltier and stickier it will be...

I handle the buds as little as possible, if I am going to rough up a bud its a scraggly underbud. I noticed this gummy trait most especially after this last season outside, it might be genetic partially, but nearly all the indica dom. strains I grew outside made hash that was more pliable then their indoor counterparts, and the oil was gummier too, you can still touch it with out sticking to you finger but its not that peanut birttle consistency, more like playdough.

Early Gold

Now you cannot even keep that at room temp without it melting.Total adhesive as well.As soon as you touch the frozen dry powder it melts....so it's difficult to define texture!
