do people go via a proxy server (proxify etc) to access this place or do you just type the site address stright into an address bar on your browser? I know the site is secure, just wondering what other do....

I would say if for instance you were gonna ask about finding chemicals to make STS and stuff you might wanna put as many walls between you and them as possible. Depending of course on your country of origin and level of paranoia. I personally come in right through the front door and pick the secured entrance. Do what ya gotta to be comfortable. Peace GS

cheers GS, I pay for a proxy service which I use here, just interested to know what people use and whether or not its required as although i use a paid for service and not a free proxy its still that bit slower when skipping between pages on the net

In addition to using a proxy server a TOR (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_(anonymity_network)) network is a possibility. I am unsure, however, if it still works especially if the data is run through AT&T's network.

AT&T is known to install back doors for the Government to snoop on its citizens.

You should always access this site and other like it via. Tor...see my thread here: https://cannabis-world.org/cw/showthread.php?t=4330

I can all but guarantee this site is being monitored by the US gov. and it's possible (though difficult) for them to recored the IP addresses accessing this site. The reason I can say this with confidence is that they were the main driving force in shutting down overgrow and cannabisworld.

What do you mean by secure? By secure do you mean the location of psychical servers? Access via. https?

Please stop using this service now! Regardless of the service your using, you are not achieving a benchmark level of anonymity or security...you should use Tor. See my thread on Tor in this sub-forum.

Tor works fine regardless of which Telco (AT&T, Version, etc) is routing traffic. Tor is not back doored. I think you misunderstand how Tor works, for example HTTP/S traffic routed into Tor is encrypted by Tor before it leaves the computer and AT&T has access to it.

---------------------

Here's how traffic flows (in both directions):

Alice (you) > Web browser > Privoxy > Tor > ISP "A" > Entry Guard (relay 1) > Middle Relay (relay 2) > Exit Relay (relay 3) > ISP "B" > Bob (destination, website, etc)

Alice: This represents you, that is, the originator of the request (for example to view this fine website ;) )

Bob: This represents the destination (website, IRC host, etc) and receiver of the request.

ISP "A": Data passesed by this ISP is encrypted and anonymized by Tor regardless of if you use HTTP or HTTPS.

ISP "B": Data passed by this ISP is not encrypted or anonymized by Tor. You SHOULD use HTTPS when possible to ensure the data is encrypted all the way ("end-to-end") from you (Alice) to your destination (Bob). When using HTTPS it is the website that is offering the encrypted connection to your Firefox, Tor has nothing to do with it.
