stability and consistency

just wanted to talk about the terms stability and consistency as they apply to breeding since I see them often used interchangably and this isn't necessarily correct

stability as I see it is the predictability of a strain when used in breeding

while

consistency as I see it is how a strain looks from plant to plant, but not necessarily how predictable it is when used in breeding

a stable strain is most usually also consistent, but a consistent strain is not necessarily stable, the only way to know for sure is to inbreed the consistent strain or outbreed the consistent strain to a known stable strain and make note of the resultant consistency

Damn C-Ray, What you're saying makes sense, but, the way you worded it makes me go into the there are things we know that we know and those things that we don't know, but we also have the unknown unknowns daze. :)
