it can be done with other trees like apples and cherries for instance
one advantage of this is one doesn't have to plant multiple trees to achieve pollination on those types of trees that need it...one could have cross pollination occur on the same tree

My friends neighbor in Surrey has an apple tree with 4 kinds of apples on it. Peace GS

Iv seen orange,tangerine,tangelo& grapfuit all on the same tree.They also had a limon tree (both lemons and limes) one of the tourist groves used to sell them.

i have apple tree with summer apple, "virgin" and jonatan on same tree - funny
my grandad work...
