What Would You Do???
This is the last half of the remnants of last harvest's trim. I don't have bubble bags or hash screens, and am running low:eek:
Considering the average household items,
What would you do.....short of going for a ditching drive..LOL.

Heres What I Did...
First off it doesn't bubble:( but is very smooth.
I went to the gas station and bought two $1.50 bags of ice. I did the first steps in the bathtub to keep clean.I washed out my camping cooler and filled it with cold water to cool it off. Then i dumped it out, refilled it 2/3 and dumped in both bags of ice. I wish i had bought more bags..4-6 at least but next time i might just make it...lol.
Then i dumped in the trim which was not buds, just leaves. I took a powered hand held blender, with the chopping attachement and ground the buds up against the ice in the igloo till the ice was all but gone. Took about 10 minutes or so. Then i dug out the remaining ice chunks, and used a metal screened kitchen strainer to strain out all the leaf i could get. I squeezed the trim letting the water run back into the cooler through the strainer, and tossed the damp material in plastic bag. There was still a lot of small stuff in suspension so i got a rubbermaid tote and bailed the gumbo into it pouring through the screen. I then dumped the screened gumbo back into the cooler and went to bed. 4 hrs later i go up and siphoned out about 2/3rds of the gumbo with a 3/4" hose and refilled the cooler with cold water. 4hrs later i siphoned the whole mixture down again to 6". The last few inches i used a piece of airline to draw it down slowly running the water through a coffee filter in the screened strainer again. I stirred the remaining solution back into suspension and poured it into mason jars i use for curing, approximatly 6 total. Being the long weekend i was dying to go on a road trip and catch up with my family so grabbed a coffee filter, the screened strainer and a plastic bowl, and the mason jars of course, and ditched the dog at dads and left. I really wanted to take the dog, but i was informed if he came not to show up as they were on vacation ...lol. So as i drove i set up. On the floor on the passenger side i put the bowl, much like the one in the very first pic..and set the strainer to hang on top of it. I set the coffee filter in the strainer..and of course poured all jars through it..dumping them by the road as it filled, and at one rest stop i got the plastic bag of trash out and "pitched in"..lol The last couple of jars were really slow..and getting into the mountains i wished i had the lid for my bowl..LOL. The last jar i poured that evening at the hostel in the car as i vegged by the pool. Before bed i dumped the bowl for the last time, dried it out and put the coffee filter in it and shoved it under the seat. The next morning to my suprise..the filter and cake was dry:)..well dry enough to burn anyways:pipe: Guess i'm glad there were no check'stops or i'd have been 'making some solar ice tea' ...lol.
A few comments i guess..well..it doesn't bubble and is only one grade..coffee filter..lol,
There was this little "oil slick" on the gumbo water that made me wonder if i lost some resin or something,
this was basically the gumbo style with a wash, making it much blonder, obviously the wash after 4 hours really helped to clean it up, and dillute out the gumbo,
I wish i could have kept the gumbo in the freezer instead of the bathtub during standing periods but the bathtub was convenient because i didn't have to disturb it and it drained away and washed up easily,
next time i will get/make more ice,
this makes me realize i really want some bubble bags so i can bubble too:kind:
peace:peace:

Nice pull!one of these days ill break down and get some bags myself.
Still looks good, but ya the bags are the shit. Your little 'oil slick' could just as easliy be from the fluoride that was most likely in the ice you bought, hence the reason its always better to make your own when you can.
