i have a call in and will let you know where to go and get the fuel cell,,give ya the new costs,,they are pricey but are very handy,,,they increase the value of a home,,,or pay for themselves if ya have a particular trade,,could be from a different manufacturer,,there is a federal 30% rebate,,also may be state incentives depending where you reside,,
There are a few companys offering them to the public
plugpower signed a exclusive distribution agreement with GE,,,but ge has not advertised or offered them to customers i was led to believe they are pulling out of residential sales
In the usa there are about 15 residential systems sold a week,,,most manufacturers are knee deep into debt from the R&D,,have no funds for multi million advertising campaigns
Plug power sold a 5kw residential for 16 months in 2002 till 2003 then shut down production for the new hybrids,,it would make sense to have a 7.5 or 10kw i have been told they cost the same now as the Plugpower 5 kw 3 years ago

Ya see,,,this link lets you in on the complete off the grid no paper trail exposure
Nobody ever thinks to much to check up on LP propane useage,,,but it does leave a paper trail,,the idea of buying 50 gallon containers of methanol from your local refiner leaves ya off the radar check this link
http://www.idatech.com/solutions/extended_run/index.html
Now the propane with the delivery is the way to go,,,but this water mix ,,,,the percentage is more water than ethanol,,,so its just a idea,,,but would be,,,alot of work,,,lp is the way to go,,,or natural gas,,,soon they will figure out water into hydrogen,,,cha bang

most houses have natural gas plumbed in already with enough flow to run 30+ kw generators, with a commercial site or farm it's even more

More than half of all usa households have natural gas plumbed into them,,
I have lp delivered,,to holding tank,,,
Residential homes would not raise a red flag if useage was under the norm,,for natural gas,,once they know you have it hooked up to a cell for all your power needs they would not question the increase,,,
a commercial business or working farm would not raise a eyebrow

modern quiet natural gas turbines are easily acquired for those with the requisite $

yes the capstone is quiet but not noise free,,,i think they can be installed inside also like in a large washroom or basement
30kw is around 40 to 45 grand i think
i never needed more than 10 at the peak,,,now less than 5 can run me swell,,could not have anything with the slightest amount of noise,,run silent run deep,,cell can be put into a very nice large victorian doll house,,,

Looks like you were write c-ray
Anyone who got the fuel cells during the first phase got them at bargain basement prices,,compared to now,,it would onnly be feasible if you had to pull the power from a few miles and if they wanted to charge 50 thousand or something,,,,
acumentrics wants nearly 100.000 grand
The stack on the model we got is in tip top shape,,,he said that after viewing would need to be replaced once the deteriation starts,,,said it still is fine could be 7 to 10 years
Capstones micro turbine may be the way to go,,,in 2008 the fuel cell will cost 15 thousand,,,we were told in japan you can buy them readily,,,
Plug power said they no longer sell the test models,,although all field tests and customers had no problems,,,to date,,,
The fuel cell does work well,,,cost the same as normal electric bill

I find these fuel cells an interesting, although expensive, way to power a grow. If you could hard line a NG fuel cell to your house, that woudl be great, yoru NG bills would be big though, but I wonder if they actually look into large NG bills, its hard enough to just look for large electricity bills....

I used to work with a woman who was one of the early employees at ballard and worked with them for several years, she said basically there's not much to a full cell, that's the beauty of it, but they use some exotic materials..so we may see them in our time but they will come at a premium

So I guess for now it'll be diesel generators to power large ops....
