welcome 2nee nice tape job..how are you irrigating your setup? how many pots you got there and what are you using for lights?

2nee
05-09-2007, 02:03 AM
there's 60 pots,on 12 poles that rotate, and 1 pot slides into another pot on each pole,i'll put a pic up for you,i just take them out of the pot, and water the same as u would with a flat garden,

2nee

c ray a i'm using 2 -400's right now cause the wheel is only haft full, but it's made for 3- 400's ,2 mh and 1 hps,i should have it full in about 3 weeks

I love it! :D
So many homemade vert units around these days! The Advancednutrients site has a bunch of 'em. They are making small movable shelving units and forming an octagon around the lights...8 mini Walls-Of-Green...now called wogtagons...LOL

What about when the plants are too filled in and can't be moved at all? Is the unit separable in any way to access inside once you have to string some up or install a screen of some sort?

2nee
05-09-2007, 03:47 AM
yes the pole can be removed very easy, and i have a stand that the pole fits into once its removed, its on a 45 degree angle , so it makes the pots level for watering

2nee
05-13-2007, 10:41 PM
yes they will get paint in july,i'm going to spray paint the poles pots, and base white c-ray

i'm making the switch asap to a vertical system - there really is NO POINT to flat gardening anymore, besides ease of setup right?we're not talking 10-20% increases in yield either, it's more substantial than that.

hey 2nee - exactly how do the planters attach to the poles - I mean I see that the actual pots with medium and plants fit inside the planters on the poles - but how do you assemble the poles or did you buy them like that and if so where?

thanks in advance

2nee
07-06-2007, 05:17 AM
i screwed them on the poles with 2 dry wall screws and washers and set them at 45 degree angle,i have some pic's of the wheel apart maybe that would give you better idea how its made,if you want to see them

bring it on 2nee,I love the Coli, but you can't move the plants around like your set up.

Now you've done a round what would you change?

I'd like to see an auto feed rig for your set up.

j6p
07-06-2007, 09:16 PM
2 dry wall screws - well hell - if it works it works, right?

and the poles are just simple black PVC, correct?

yeah TC I would think some drippers would work well with this setup too

The Cannarchist
07-06-2007, 09:20 PM
looks like 4" drain pipe to me

2nee
07-07-2007, 04:09 AM
ok here we go some pic's of the wheel apart,i did put new wheels on the bottom cause the old 1's were just a bit to small, now i have flat wheels that will take up to 125lbs each

2nee
07-07-2007, 04:17 AM
no there 1"1/2" pvc pipe, and the drippers well they probly would work ,but i'll stick to what i have now,and only change i can think of is i'm going to run a piece of pvc pipe with 2- 90 degree elbows to lock in the pipes at the top to make it even more stronger

:yeahthat:

ok a few last questions and then I'll leave you alone.

What is the overall dimensions of the wheel - room wise?

how many poles? ... I count 12 ... I think?

how long are each of the legs?

what is the angle on the legs - 30 degrees or 15 degrees at each end of the leg?

what is the total diameter of the wheel?

how many days do you veg or do you flower as soon as you put them in there?

what do you do for odor control?

I have a friend with a 5' x 5' room and I am wondering if this type of setup will fit in there.

Anything - especially plans you may have drawn and could take a picture or scan would be great information.

Thanks,

J6p

2nee
07-10-2007, 04:49 AM
the wheel is 4'x4'wide by x 5'5" high you need at least 5'x5' room with 6' ceiling, you can go smaller if you want and use only 2 lights ,depending on your room

12 poles 5 pots per pole
poles are 5'5"

poles should be vertical strait up and down,i have a pic of the jig i used to put pots on pvc pipe,2 dry wall screws to hold them with washers, set on a 45 degree angle

i have a veg room so i just go 12&12 on the wheel

i have a carbon filter system that controls the odor

well the pic's i posted should give you a idea how its made:bang: if not i'll send you a pm with the instructions, let me know:joint3:

Awesome thread, thanks for sharing! I'm very interested in vertical gardening because I think it makes a lot of sense. However the amount of pot these things grow is a little bit too much for me. Maybe a mini one in the future is in order... Love the design though- I've seen octagons before where the plants weren't placed at a 45 degree angle, just flat like normal and they stretch towards the light naturally and look just how your's look. It just seems like a lot of work to water them all, damn near full-time job I wonder?

2nee why are those things so much better ,it seems like the plant doesnt grow as big as it being flat on the ground ,but I do not know. they dont hit the light and is it hard to keep them mannicured. your shit looks awesome just curious.

The Cannarchist

Bexause you can fit 5 plants in a space usually done with one.

I have been toying with the idea of a verticle grow for awhile now this setup makes it seem very attractive. I'll be watching this one.

Does somebody know the exact mesures and angles to build the vertical WoG? If somebody could send me a pm with detailed mesures I would apreciate it alot.

KingDub
10-02-2008, 02:26 AM
Hey tom im constructing one exactly like this at the moment. If my messurements are corrent. Each piece for the bottom polygod is gonna be the same length witch determines the finial size. Each angle on each piece should be cut at a 75deg angle. I'm still trying to figure out how long i should cut each piece. I just got all the wood and im trying to figure it out for i can get started on the construction.

KingDub
10-02-2008, 02:30 AM
Please someone correct me if im wrong. I really need to find out how to construct this. I need to know how to do the math to make my wheel end up being 4x4. So to make a 12 sided figue the center angle of each piece is 30 deg. so 180deg minus 30 =150deg then half of that is the other angles witch gets 75deg. i think the math is corrent im not positive though. please any help. still need the legnth to get a 4x4 finial shape.

Good day,

I am not sure at exactly what you are looking for. The lenght of the pieces of wood that form the 12 sides in which each of the poles are centered ?

To see how to construct such a polygon you could check this simulation http://pagesperso-orange.fr/therese.eveilleau/pages/jeux_mat/textes/dodecagone.htm#deux. It is in French but the animation is self explenatory.

If you want me to do tha maths for you let me know.

Hey King Dub have you figured out the mesurements for the VWG?

11-11-2008, 07:29 AM
I dont think 2nee has posted in a while so Ill ask here.
Anyone build one of these?
How far do the plants grow in to the bulbs, or how far away from the bulbs are they at what height?
