The third pic is some transplants getting ready for outdoors in the flat, and in the three pots beside we have chives, sweet marjoram, and parsley.

Hey, thanx for the responses guys. Cray has a good eye or a great memory:) Green Supreme its a pleasure growing without paranoia:smile2: I find cultivation the addiciting part;) Justcurous, its all inside. The seedlings and sprouts are under 250 mh and two 4 foot double shop lites. The production area is in 4 rows of the coli with 1K MH. The seedlings are just waiting for spring and out they go. The salad dressing is in fridge:fro: ..lol. Your absolutly right, this is the makings of future food, good for the body, great for the soul:yay:
Taking off tomorrow to get some more organic food for the green gang to keep em happy:beatnik:

i had heard a good idea for a compost pile is to take only the best 40% of your vegies, and return the other 60 % to the compost pile. seems like such a waste , but in the end , its really not. most of the vegies end up not eaten anyway, and its a shame to just throw them away. keep up the good work, and break out the blue cheese, im comin for dinner. LOL

Here we have an eggplant flower, a future pickle, and beans for supper:D The beans are still the fastest yielding, I've been pulling off a little handful once or twice a week for a bit now. Took a good cut out of the basil the other day. With snow still in the air, and on the ground, were all happy inside:farm:

Of course it's all just experience and fun with out some sort of mandate. I mean after all, I could just go down to the grocery store and get some painted, irridated, stored produce, grown hydroponically and imported from wherever, for a lot less hastle and power bill.
But.....hmmmm.....a man's gotta eat healthy, and so should his food:beatnik:
Here's a shot of my food's food and supplements.
In the past I've grown all hydro with bloom boosters for my best yields, but lately I've been growing at a 70% chem ratio, and 30% organic ratio and have been enjoying the enhanced bouquet of tastes and aromas. This time the goal is 100% organic.

looking good
I tried some of that natures way worm juice, from the right pic, it seemed super watered down and I did not see much growth out of it...I suspect they are possibly using hot water to extract it and that it has very little biological activity

Hey guys:farm: thanx for the replies:D

GS, the production area of the garden has a 1kw metal halide that I raise and lower a foot and a half 'as motivated'..lol I use a mh because I find it has more light all around the bulb, instead of just the intense side display from the hps, and the spectrum makes me feel 'happier' when growing under;) My garden is only in 4 rows of the coli, but the foliage covers any area of more then 7 rows..lol It was interesting planning a mixed garden because different plants have different feed and light demands. Thus I put the high demand plants up top..and lower demand ones below to train on the cage. I actually find that if I let my cukes climb any higher on the cage they get to much light and have much smaller leaves, etc.
C-ray, I use the natures way worm juice for flavor, it was part of my old matrix blend, but have been holding off during the production phase anyways.
I've looking for a better worm juice I'll readily admit:(

Parabola, and justcurious, thanx for stopping by and the kind words of encouragement, can be hard growing plants you know you can't rollup..LOLOL

kewl! I admit I have been growing on a basically inert media, per/verm and now peat/per/verm, so I had no matrix or cec in my media, to speak of. I was mixing up these feed rezs in an attempt to get a 'matrix outta the bottles.' When I tried the local source for wormy castings it wasn't sterilized well enough for me and I got all sorts of bad hatchings(mostly trips, etc). Thus I went to liquid worm juice to beat bugs and get add to my 'pour in' matrix. The price is to much for the gain though IMO so I only use it in veg, small pots stage usually. Can we make liquid wormy that can go in the rez? Is this just casting tea? I'm all ears..(on account of just getting a haircut):kitty:
I'd be happy to see a thread where you could learn us how to farm good worm poop and juice:toilet:

kewl thanx Cannarchist:D

So we covered food and light, now onto cooling:)

In the third pic in the twelfth post you can see the fan in the bottom of the coli. This runs on low speed and acts to circulate the air in the coli making the hot air go up. The coli temps and room temps are kept even top to bottom by this fan and it does general air circulation for plants.
My vent fan is a 150a elicient which I run through a speed controller when the lights are on. It probably is running at 2/3rds speed and removing over 100cfm and the room is very happy. Cold cement basements rock! The vent hose is plastic and I have a piece on the suction end to reduce fan noise. The discharge goes out of the room, over the wall and blows into the laundry room. From there I can open the laundry room door and heat the basement or open the laundry chute door and heat upstairs. Very nice this time of year. Summer I will have to unhook the furnace and run out the chimney there. The fan is wrapped in a blanket to suppress sound and hung in a dollar store cargo net off of bungee cords to absorb vibration.
Works great and is fairly ghetto;)

What's the green barrel shape above the fan?

Ghetto is an art form in functionality.

nuggdigger

The green barrel shape above the fan is the expansion tank for my home heating boiler and is no part of my garden. The garden always has the boiler and hot water tank in the room, so this helps maintain lights off temps as well as dry out the room. I've never experienced too hot of temps yet in there and ran over 2400watts before. You can see the chimney in the one picture, the boiler heat discharges up there. There is a flue in the discharge hood and it allows a lot of hot air out when the room is to hot by heat transfer or whatever. At the time I had the 2400 watts running in there, the fan ran into a carbon scrubber in the room and never even had an out of room discharge except for up the chimney and a partially open door to the laundry room and I was able to keep temps below 80:) When it comes time for summer I will shut off the boiler, unhook the flue and vent right out, cooling the basement:D

ps..and tranny a load of plants outdoors:farm:
