in DWC, can you use Epson salt in a pinch as a replacement for Cal-Mag when running PBP bloom?

if so, how much Epson's per gallon of water?

1 tsp epsom into 1 gal water = 125 odd ppm of magnesium
not sure what you are trying to do...
the addages are of '1/4 - 1/2 tsp per gallon' (30-60 ppms)

Hey there, LO & PB!!

With the formula, I routinely use 1/4 tsp per gallon of water and have no problems. I do though add it religiously to both add-back water and formula.

The plus in CalMag plus is iron. kees em green. I"m going to replace i with eposom on my add backs past 4 weeks.

I use RO, pbp and calmag+ per the bottle, adding back 100%, never burned...things are a bit green at the end. Stuff is so expensive I faxed a retail package so I can buy it at wholesale.

Save the epsom salts for soaking your feet.. :)

The calcium in the Cal/Mag is what you need, not the Mag.

Using e&f every 2 hours. Best of luck starting the clean rez with 5mlof Cal Mag Plus and 30ml of PBP bloom for each gallon of RO-DI filtered water (pH 7 ppm 6-12). With a short veg time, the rooted plants only see the bloom ferts. For the first 3/4 of bloom, each gallon of RO water I refill with the same mixture. The final 1/4 of bloom only gets pH adjusted (with phosphoric acid) RO water. (that's the only time I use the pH pen, the ppm is only used to check the RO quality, PBP+E&F makes it that simple for me) I've been trying different PK boosters....still haven't found one that I'm really thrilled about. Running Awesome Blossoms this time, just cuz I had some laying around. I plan to buy a case of Hydroplex, Sweet and Liquid Karma once the wholesalers approve the apps. Then I'll run the full botanicare line and see if I can get major yield without sacrificing the great flavor I find consistantly with the PBP line. I've never had any problems with PBP, although I don't do bubbles, for all the reasons Lucas has listed. My experience is that the plants grow without any stress or nutrient shortage.

Old Toby,

Are you saying you flood every two hours?

Using e&f every 2 hours.

Once the plants are in the bloom room I do. To be more correct I flood 5 times a day, every 2 hrs and 10 mins while the lights on. I use 5.25" pots filled with 90% perlite. (no more than 1" of clean silca stone as bottom weight so they don't float.)

Personally, things take a shit when I take vacation. With the high perlite % and small pots only a plugged drain will over-water them, that's practically impossible. A kinked pump hose will cause a shallow flood, but with frequent floods they will pull through my weekend away. Only massive hose or pump failure is left to ruin my vacation. Luckily those parts show wear long before failure. Most important part are the clamps, I use zip ties, replaced with each tray scrubbing.
