A convicted prisoner accused of having a bag full of cannabis, yesterday told the court that the bag was given to him by a prison officer.
Magistrate Bertlyn Reynolds recorded a not guilty plea for the prisoner Mark Leach after he explained the circumstances of the find to the court. He was subsequently remanded to prison.
It is alleged that on May 3 last year, Leach had 205 grammes of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.
Leach explained to the court that he is presently serving a five-year sentence and had been in prison since 2002.
"Ah never get any bad conduct. An officer called me to drop off a package. I did obey his order because on another occasion when I disobeyed I was put in solitary confinement".
