BANGALORE: A pedlar from Warangal in Andhra Pradesh was arrested by the city railway police on Wednesday morning. Over 30 kg of ganja worth around Rs 1.5 lakh was seized from the accused.
Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested Shankar while moving suspiciously at the Cantonment Railway Station. Shankar had come to the city on the Kacheguda Express and was waiting for some persons at the station.
Robbed in autorickshaw: Hitching a ride in an autorickshaw proved costly for a sculptor who was stabbed by miscreants and robbed of Rs 5,000 and bronze idols, near Kengeri on Tuesday.
The victim, Neelakanta V Bhat, a resident of Marathahalli, boarded the autorickshaw along with some bronze idols which he had obtained from his client's place. While there was already a passenger in the autorickshaw, two other persons joined the commuter and the driver.
They stabbed Bhat in the hand and robbed him before pushing him out of the vehicle.
Man convicted of murder: A city court has convicted a man on the charge of murder and sentenced him to life imprisonment.
The convict, Karunakaran had murdered Sanjeev, a money lender in December 1998. Karunakaran had taken a loan of Rs 40,000 from Sanjeev to set up a small business. When he failed to repay the loan with interest, Sanjeev demanded repayment.
In a fit of rage, Karunakaran killed Sanjeev. Man stabbed to death: Ramanjenaya, a construction worker was stabbed to death by miscreants over a petty quarrel in Chikkajala in the wee hours of Wednesday. He was a native of Anantpur.
Arrested: The CCB sleuths have arrested four associates of a notorious history sheeter, Imran of Goripalya and seized handguns and other lethal weapons.
The police arrested the gang when they attempted to loot silk from a truck on the Ring Road in Hebbal. The gang was involved in robbery of silk worth Rs 40 lakh.
