ok, well ive overdone the epsom salts too it seems.

thats why ive been trying to work out this Nutrient Profiler - http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/fourtwenty/articles/profiles.htm because i seem to be getting just about everything wrong with this grow.

at this rate, im going back to compost, i never had a problem with compost... :(

I reached pretty much that same point when trying to sort out what the nutrient profiler calculated vs my results. When supplementing with Epsom Salts, start with 1/4 tsp per gallon and only increase (up to 1/2 tsp / gallon) if you see deficiencies.

Oski, one thing to consider is WHY you are even using epsom. Did you notice a deficiency to begin with?

Btw: Dark leaves can also indicate N toxicity.

It's recommended that if you are using nutes which do not contain enough Cal/Mg (such as PureBlendPro), you should supplement with 5ml per gal of Cal-Mag.

If it's an emergency situation where you are seeing a serious problem with lack of Cal/Mg (striping in leaves, white between veins, starting at top of plant and working its way down) then use 1Tblspoon of Epsom salt in 1 gallon of water and SPRAY the foliage....

I would never recommend adding salt to a rez, it can cause so many other probs you'll be chasing your own tail.

The only downside is you also get all that extra nitrogen in Cal-Mag. The Epsom Salt only adds Mg and Sulfur. If it is nitrogen toxity than Cal-Mag will worsten it. As to adding salt into a res, that's what all non-organic nutrient solutions do!

You are right on about foliar feeding with Epsom Salt / water solution. This will make the defciency go away more quickly than simply root feeding.

Oski - What nutrients are you using?
