Hello all, I have 6 plants and wondered what the max height should be when I move over to flowering. I have 2 SS, 2 JH & 2 WW. My max height is 6 ft and I know I have to allow some room for the lights. I'm in week 4 of veg right now. I was going to wait until they are 18" but I think that might be too tall. Any suggestions?

is SS = superskunk?

are you growing in soil? or hydro? are they from clone or seed?

will you be training or just growing tree style?

I personally flip my plants around 4-6" and then scrog, but I grow hydro in a small space.

I'd expect that the JH (jack herer I assume) will stretch the most of those plants followed by the SS (if it is superskunk) then the WW. Ideally you would veg them each till they were high enough so that they would finish around the same size after stretch. To do that you'd need another veg room. Then take the JH and flower first - next week the SS - a week later the WW.

SS = skunk special
JH = jack herer
WW = white widow
Growing in hydro, dwc buckets, from seed. Was going to grow tree style but I'm worried about running out of space, I have a hydro hut mini, 39" x 39"x 6 ft

I'd flower them when the talles one gets to 12". You will gain experience to know if you should have flowered earlier or later from that. I wouldn't reccomend growing them as trees for the exact reason you are worried about, headroom.

Hopefully you will take clones from each plant so you will know exactly how "each" one performs. Even if they all are female, some will do better for you than their sisters. Then you keep the "keepers" & toss the others. The earlier you flower, the earlier you will know which are the keepers. ;)

From experience in yrs past...tripping at 10" in a soilless medium with 1 plant per sqft...will have most plants finishing at 18-24", but have had some go to 30". This was with lots of light too and proper temp control.

in my experience dwc results in more stretch as does the fact it is a seed plant. I've had seed plants go from 6 inches with tight nodes to 36 inches in no time.

I think 10 inches is probably good for your setup. you can always train by tying down branches to the lid of your dwc. start saving those green lettuce velcro thingies as they work awesome without pinching the branch.

thanks everyone, i decided that i do need to tie them down, going to try LST. I already was able to lower my lights. Thanks for the input, it's really helpful.

Also I keep stretch down by running MH's until the 3rd week of 12/12, then I switch over to HPS so the buds will bulk up well. It's made a big difference for me.

yeah the SS are horrible. The seeds took longer to germ. They are still behind all my others. I have two and one looks really strange and the other one is coming along with a lot of problems in between. They aren't feminized seeds either. So who knows what they are. I have WW that haven't given me much trouble other than growing too tall. I have some JH that are doing okay but seem to like the nutes a little light as I keep burning them. It's a learning process...I just hope I don't kill anything!
