Hey everyone
Clones are now rooted and have set up my 4x4 Ebb & flow table but now pondering the age old question of what lights to use. I have only ever used 400w in the past but would like to use either a 1000w or 2 600w this time round. Im packing 60 healthy cuttings in a sog type setup with 5 days veg max before switching to flower. Plants will be in 6" pots of clay balls using the lucas formula for feeding.
1. Which will put out more heat ....1000w or 2x 600w
2. 2x 600w will give better ligh distribution but will penetration be enough for a good yield.
3. Im using AK47 this time round. Anybody tried AK47 as a strain packed this closely. Any pointers on this strain?
Any opinions followed by reasoning or past experince on a similar setup would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone!!

the problem with the 600's is that they are more effective covering a 3 foot wide area, a 3 foot by 5 or so foot bed would be better suited to 2 x 600w
if you got a 4x4 table I would go with the 1000w

i agree with c-ray
4x4 table would be 1 1000
4' is about the 1000's footprint

Thanks guys I was thinkin 1000w too.
Out of curiosity how do you think the 2x 600w over a 3x5 table would compare to a 1000w over a 4x4 table. Any advantage to either? I guess the 2x 600w may give a more even canopy but do you think there would be any yield difference between the two options?
Any idea which option puts out more heat?

600w works good when the plants are finishing at around 20 inches and shorter
1000w is better for plants taller than that
there is also a 750w now
check out the lighting thread for info on how large their footprints are

how many cubic feet is the garden?
heat between the 2 will be fairly close

what about a 3'6" x 6'6" closet with 1-1000hps on a light rail, would this be optimal ?

personally I would go with 2 x 600w

with 2 600w you can have one mh and one HPS

I personally am switching most of my lights to 600w's. They have such a higher lumen output per watt than the 1000w lights. 2 600w lights give you around 220,000 lumen's compared to around 140,000 with the 1000w light. Seems like a no brainer to me, that is if you do not grow tall plants. The 1000w has deeper penetration. Best I can do! Peace!

600 watt lights are the most versatile and the most efficient. I can get a pound per light with 600's and sour diesel, without CO2. For that and without having to fuss with the extra heat, 600s are the way to go.
The only thing is that in the future, when this country is one big hellhole 600 watt bulbs will be impossible to find whereas 1000 watters are everywhere on streetlights.
There will be firefights over HID bulbs once the impoverished and starving masses realize they can be used to grow food.

Weed and hash will be used as currency. . . what else has such universal appeal, resistance to forgery and generally agreed upon value?

come on bodah, let's hope it doesnt descend so far into carnal anarchy that women become a commodity . . . After all american pseudo-women have quite readily adapted to the role of whore already, of their own free will.
Unless you're suggesting we young studs bite the bullet and let fatty pay to sit on our faces. . . hahahahahaha
