I've been reading a lot of different methods for making hash. I have made isohash several times but just didn't like the tarry taste nor did I like messing with it...yuck. I had read a thread here about making hash without bags so I decided to try and see what I could do in the kitchen with what I had.

I only used fan leaf and a small amount of sugar trim. This was only enough to fill a quart jar after grinding it well with my hands. After grinding I put the plant matter in a large bowl, added water and about 2 cups of ice. I then used a mixer on low speed for about 2 minutes. Then I strained the water into another large bowl using a grease splatter screen, throwing away the plant matter.. Once again I strained the water into a quart jar through a stocking. I let the jar sit for about 45 minutes then slowly poured off the water until only a small amount of water and matter remained. I then took a piece of aluminum foil and folded the edges to make a 'plate' with edges to keep the water from running out. I then poured the water into the aluminum 'plate' on a warming plate on low and let it evaporate the water.

In just about an hour I scraped off enough blonde ice hash to fill a regular sized pipe bowl. This was the smoothest hash I have ever had. It's taste was so much cleaner than iso or bubble hash. From now on my sugar trim will be saved for cannabutter and my fan leaves will mos def get the icehash treatment :).

Thanks to those who posted about ways to make hash without bags

Was it fresh trim or dry trim? I've got a bunch(well a paper bag)of dry trim that I'd like to try.

Sorry Lungus, I forgot to say, and as you can tell...I'm frizzled off one hit :D.

I used dry trim hon. Try a small amount first to be sure this is what you have in mind but I don't think you will be dissappointed. I know I'm not

What the hell a little something is better than nothing and I've heard leaves and trim don't BHO too well, or at least you'd need a huge tube to see a return that would be big enough so that it could be easily scraped up. I might give it a try this weekend thanks LT.

LT,
Do you remember Bluegrew(sp?)the guy with the insane skunk grows in his backyard?

He mixed up his trim in a bucket with water and ice then poured that through a beer brewers yeast bag to filter out the junk then poured that water through a bed sheet. or you could just go buy a couple screens instead of the sheet at a hobby shop or from a silk screen shop.

He had big ole cakes of hash. A lot simpler than what you are doing and faster.

Just a thought.

Here's a suggestion for those of you utilizing the physical/mechanical or extrinsic properties of cannabis resins (i.e., the cold water method) to extract your harvest. Obtain a potter's wheel or some sort of rapidly spinning or revolving device to centrifuge the water. Since the resins aren't water soluble and are less dense than the solvent, what you want should migrate to the supernatant (the top layer) and the plant material will sink to the bottom. I haven't tried it yet, just thought of it recently, but my background and knowledge tells me it ought to work.
