I have been using the EZ Clone for a couple of years now with good success but have recently ran into a bit O' trouble! I have lost a shit load of cuts my last two attempts with both my ez 120 + 60! Can you say Ouch!LOL:o . I even contemplated pulling out those old trays and domes I've got put up some where!LOL But before I resort to that I was hoping some of you might have a suggestion or two that may get me back on the right road. I generally use roottech rooting gel and cut twice with a fresh razor blade under the gel let sit for 15 minutes to let gel dry set a little then into a fresh res. with water and sometimes a little hygrozyme. The last time I put them in and the tips started to "slime out" and become very bendable, like water logged or something of that nature. I don't know if its a fungus or what, just hoping someone has experienced this and can get me back on track. Thanks in Advance for all replies

Hey grohard
I use a botanicare clone machine. Basically same thing with fewer misters.
I don't use any type of root dip/gel at all. I put 1t thrive alive B1 and 1/4t superthrive per gallon res water, then add mild nutes with topup water after they have started rooting.
Possilby your root gel has bacteria growing in it?

Hey Gro,
What I've found using an Aero cloner is don't
use the gel.
I use Clonex solution and just mist the plts.
I had slimed plts with the gel.
Peace,

Thanks Alaska & Dragon, it was a brand new container of Roottech Gel so I don't think it was the gel that contaminated it but I'm thinking of cleaning the inserts in a bleach/water solution and then try the cuts again, this time trying some more stuff in the water, I have a little of that clonex solution and I have the APS from Dutch master, so I guess I'll have to be a little creative and see what works. I use to have a botanicare cloner that worked great but it only handled like 20 sumthin' cuts!LOL I'm more in the need of like 20X that amount! I dunno we'll see how it goes, I had good success in the past but I think my lighting may be an issue cuz I didn't have them under any fluoros. I was just using regular room light thinking I could switch once they get some roots but apparently I better go back to some supplemental lighting. I dunno I'm just trying to think of all the variables that have changed since my last success with the EZ. Thanks once again fellas....

Thanks "King Of New York", that's who FrankWhite is huh?LOL I definitely agree a thorough cleansing and this time I will run the cleaning solution through the res/misters the last time I just rinsed it out after allowing to sit for a while. But Dammn, I don't have a "few days" to let it dry I need to get back on track asap!LOL

What is the cleaning solution that should be used?
Bleach water? In what bleach to water ratio?

Bleach or hydrogen peroxide will sterilize just about anything it comes into contact with if the concentration is correct. If everything you clean dissolves, that was a wee bit too strong. What ever you do DO NOT mix either with ammonia. As far as ratios go start out low. say 2 oz to a gallon to start out for bleach. For H2O2 it is available in either .03% or 35% so adjust accordingly.

when i used my ez cloner i used clonex liquid and hydroguard in the rezzy and dipped my clones in roottech never had a problem but went back to trays/domes because i think they give better cuttings.
to clean it we jsut used a heavy h2o2 solution and ran the machine for bout 30 minutes then ran pure water thru it for 30 minutes and she was ready to go again.
